This was very helpful. The instructions have no detail and are not helpful, but your video is easy to follow and a lifesaver. I'll let you know how mine goes!
I found an old metal coffee can in my garage, about the same size and my mini Weber Chimney. It works great to put the kit coals exactly where you want.
Very clear and précised, enjoyed watching the Video. I just ordered the Flame Boss today for my Kamoto Joe, For overnight cooks. New subscriber Here. Thanks for sharing.
I've read some comments saying meat taste different, not as good, when using a fan compared to when not using one. Can you tell the difference? Thank you for your help.
The fan isnt' strong enough to get to higher temps but it will work for low and slow if you built an adaptor plate. I actually did this with the Fireboard factory controller and it worked without issue for lower heat cooks.
Hey! Great video! I'm new into bbq and looking for a smoker and I'm torn between the Weber smokey mountain and the masterbuilt gravity ? Which would you recommend?
Hard to give simple answer so here is my best shot WSM 22 vs MB 1050 . The WSM will last a life time,, MB will not. WSM Has around 700sqinc of cook space compared to the MB's 1050. WSM does not come with a fan (many after market options) MB onboard controller, wiring and fan are all lacking what Aftermarkets models bring to the table (add that to the MB cost) - MB is a FUEL hog where WSM is much better at controlling heat (with experience). MB has three wins over the WSM - 1) Utilizing the available space is simple 2) high heat/grilling isn't really an option on the WSM 3) cleaning/storing. WSM is a better all around proven product. MB is great for what it is but not worth the money in my opinion.
I have a Flame Boss 200, from 2016. Today they sent me a new blower. I can't fit it into the vent hole. I think I need something else. Where did you get that round thing that you put over the vents? Do they make one for a 18.5" WSM?
@@MrMeJensen Thanks for the prompt reply. I never got one with the 200, that one used springs at the end to it into the vent holes. The blower would go directly into the vent holes with the 200, without that round thing covering an entire vent. It looks like they changed the design, and that round thing is now used for the blower to snap into place.
WIFI or BT poor connectivity? I have used this thing a bunch and haven't had a single failure. The FB200 before this one too worked flawlessly. Maybe you got a bad apple. Sorry for the luck
@@TXSHeat had to add another mesh extender to finally make it work (only Flameboss400 needing it really, even streaming on TV at a much further distance ~ 25 m works flawlessly), and even now the connection drops occasionally.
Really enjoyed your video, I have the 18.5 WSM, opened my eyes to how easy this was, no holes to drill etc…enjoy!
Glad I could help!

Good luck! I haven't used my WSM(s) in a long time and with the 400 I find myself running it way more often now!

Awesome video! Thanks for the review!
Thanks man!
Good clip. Well done! (The clip and the pork belly!)
Time for a FlameBoss, I’d say.
Good call!
No more videos? Love your content .

Not at all !
Hi, like your videos.
Have a Masterbuilt 1050 on the way!
What are your take on pairing the FB400 to the 1050 in case of controller brake down?

@@TXSHeat Agreed on the Masterbuilt on ther facebook site all I see is nothing BUT COMPLAINTS, You couldn't give me one.
Will this work on the 18.5” as well? Also how do you have the other vents positioned?
Bottom were Closed 100% and top had a slight sliver open. I think it would work with the 18.5 as well.
BBQ Beer Bros thank you. Will give this a go.
@@brentwendland i have a 18 inch WSM. Did you eventually got it to work on the 18 WSM?

It comes with the 400 kit. I thought I got one with my 200 as well. I believe it is the universal kit. Check their www

Does it use allot more charcoal to run this unit
I haven't noticed a difference at all.
So I to buy a smart phone to use this?
Yes -
How does this compare to the Billow from ThermoWorks?
I am a ThermoWorks fan for sure. Hard to compare the 400 to Billow as it needs a separate controller which defeats the simplistic nature of the 400.
Would you be confident enough in this to start a brisket and go to bed?
You bet! And I have without issue!
Still using the flameboss?
Yes , it is dedicated to the WSM and wouldn’t have it any other way at this point. Really like it.
@@TXSHeat awesome thanks for the quick response. Merry Christmas
What battery?
amzn.to/2GAJkOC
@@TXSHeat How long will that battery pack keep the flame boss powered?
How long does that battery run?
Battery has covered a 18hr brisket cook with power to go!
@@TXSHeat where’s the link to the battery pack used?
