Worked perfectly! Got 2 key fobs from Amazon for $30 each, had them cut at a local locksmith for $25 each. They said they couldn’t program them as they don’t have the “tool” but I said just cut the keys anyway. Followed your instructions when I got home and in about 5 minutes both keys programmed perfectly! At $55 per key investment we now have a few spares for my daughters Beetle. Thanks for the clear instructions❤😊
2004 VW Beetle- Turned the keyless to the right (lock position) and held it for 10 seconds and presto, it works! Saved me hundreds of dollars from the local dealer when all they had to do was this!
Tried lots of methods posted on TH-cam and online forums with no success. Your method worked! I think it was the ten second bit which was different. Thanks!
Fantastic! Been to an auto spark and two local high end repair centres and none of them could help, referring me to the main VW dealership. Came home, went on to this site. Did exactly as described, two minutes, bingo!!!!! Thankyou soooo much😁😁😁
this works, thanks (Jetta MkIV, 2002). Symptoms: fob was wet, battery fucked, replaced batt, fob started continuous red LED flash but would not open doors remotely, tried VW manual instructions (fcuking incomprehensible), then found this YT video and this worked 10 sec later. Thanks.
2002 WV Jetta 1.9 TDI...tried this procedure a few times....No luck, but, me and anything electronic never have gotten along very well to start off with ! Great video...Thanks. LIKED/SUBSCRIBED !
Is there a way to reprogram my second key to be recognised by immobilizer? Key was working fine but i tried to take radio out by bit of force and the key stopped working. I have other key that only locks car manualy. And the button on starting key doesnt work.
My battery on Volkswagen polo died and I buy new one but now light on remote key don't work, and even i cant unlock or lock car remote is there any solution? 😭😭
Do you have any other methods? I tried this one on my 2012 Golf TDI and it didn't work. Apparently VW issued me a key that was never programmed and now they want to charge me $70 to program it. Ugh.
ive done something like this before on my 2003 the spare key works to unlock the car sets alarm disarms alarm opens the locked doors except for hatch starts car for a second then dies... yellow bug light on the dash flashes cant run the car with the key unless for some reason you just started it with the original key at some point
Did this not work for me. Your vw manual tells you the key method. For me it was put máster key in ignition, close door, use the program (new) key close the door take it out and press unlock and lock for 2 secs. The open the door. I have 2003 mk4
Other locksmiths/dealers suggested turning the key to lock and holding it for 5-10 seconds or better yet turning it from "lock to neutral to lock" to make sure programming mode is engaged. NOTE: On some non-Beetles, you might need to turn the key to the unlock position for 5-10 seconds. These instructions are for 1998 to 2001 Beetles: Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle. You will need two keys to perform this programming procedure. One key will be the trainer key, the other key will be the programmed key. If you use the MASTER key as the trainer key, all the remotes will be erased. NOTE: the following procedure only programs the remote buttons. It does not program the key to start the car. You must have the key programmed at a dealer or locksmith. NOTE: Close the trunk and passenger's door. NOTE: If the microswitch in the driver's door lock is broken, this method will not work. 1.Insert the trainer key into the ignition switch and turn the ignition switch to the ON position. But do NOT start the car. This is called position 2. 2. Within 30 seconds: Insert a 2nd key into the driver’s door lock cylinder. Roll down the window. Close the door and manually lock the driver’s door with the 2nd key and hold in place for 6 to 10 seconds to engage programming Mode. NOTE: On some non-Beetles, you might need to turn the key to the unlock position for 5-10 seconds. 3.Release the key. Press the remote's LOCK button once. 4.After 2 seconds press the UNLOCK button. The car should blink its flashers or beep, letting you know that programming is now complete. For up to 4 total remotes, press the UNLOCK button on the other remotes waiting at least 2 seconds between remotes. If the trainer key was the MASTER key, you might need to press this button 2 to 4 times for instance for Remote 2 press the button 2 times, for Remote 3 press the button 3 times, for Remote 4 press the button 4 times. 5.Switch ignition to the OFF position. Programming is now complete, test remote to ensure proper function www.tunemyeuro.com/vw-key-fob-programming-guide/ Or: northcoastkeyless.com/2001-volkswagen-beetle-keyless-entry-remote-programming-instructions/
Hi i know this video is pretty old, but i'm loosing my s**t trying to get my key fobs to work. please reply!! I have my chipped key that starts my mk 4 jetta. The fob that it is in is new and not programmed to the locks (i switched the chip to the new fob). Do i really need two functioning fobs? I have an emergency key that opens the doors but it is not chipped? will this not work to reprogram the new fob? Because I have failed many times trying to use this non-chipped key(along with the chipped one) to program the fob.
I just want to make sure i'm understanding this process, is this to program the key imobilizer chip, or is this to program the buttons on the fob to lock and unlock the doors? or does it do both? Thanks
@@themachine8009 for me I was able to get the immobilizer working but I also recently changed the driver's door lock module as mine was failing. Not sure if that makes a difference but I did the same method in this video and it starts the vehicle. All I changed was the silver metal piece from my old key fob to my new one.
Thanks Ryan, that was very helpful. Just purchased a 2000 TDI Beetle from a fellow from the TDIclub forum. One key fob works & the other doesn't, I'm going to try your method. Where can I get a shirt like the one you're wearing? 🆒 thanks, Dave!
PLEASE help me. I have been meaning to make a valet key from FIXMYVW.COM. I had an OEM switchblade key for my 2002 1.8T wagon but then the unthinkable happened, I lost my only key! My steering wheel is locked and I am unsure how to get my wagon onto a car dolly to haul it to any of the dealers; all of them being 90 minutes away. What are my options aside from a $300 dealer key? I have in my possession VCDS Ross Tech to program if that helps. Thank you very much.
This is not how it works on my 2002 beetle. 1st key in ignition, ignition on, no start. Drivers door open 2nd key in drivers lock, all the way to the right (locking position), hold for 10 sec (may beep may not) then press lock 2 times. Then lock- unlock with original remote. Then new will work
omg, thank God you`re not a Military bomb disposer, or Airline Pilot; you step on and double clutch on every point you`re trying to make-- SCRIPT AND RESHOOT

Your awesome! Reprogrammed my factory key this way. Thx 🙂
Do you know how to do the two key method for a 2007 passat with keyless entry key fob
.... did you throw the wrapper on the ground ?
what do you do if you want to program a third key? thanks

Hi! I have a problem, can you help me please?
After you Lock and Unlock the Door....did you just Turn the Key ON or Start the car ?
(it sounds as tho you have the car running!)?

Can confirm, your suggestion worked on a 2002 Jetta TDI.
Hi i just tried your tutorial, it works anyway yet the immobilizer notice doesn't still shows what do i do
imobilizer has nothing to do with the remote. You need the rfid chip
So will this work if i only have the valet key? I just ordered a keyfob off TunedEuros

Exactly. That’s what I’d like to know 2

I used to have the shirts up on Amazon, but sold out, I have a few left at home I can sell. Just shoot me an email at vwdiesel.net@gmail.com
+Ryan VWDiesel thanks Ryan!
Email sent, thanks, Dave!
Dave Kana. is this programming just for the key fob or for the starting of the car?
Key!
my immobilizer light still blinks, seems to be working though so far...how do I get my immobilizer light to go off? thanks
Kathy Barnes So, this method will trip immobilize
Great Job! Thank you!

My beetle don’t have a key entry.

Where can I get a new key cut??

Mr. Ryan. It's not working. Remote in the video is not working. you also know that.
Thank you , you were very helpful . I hope you picked up the wrapper from the ground lol !!
You don't turn the key to the left - you turn it to the right and hold it for 10 seconds.....that's why his remote didn't work.
Mine worked and I turned it to the left. '04 Mk4 VW Beetle GL
I had to turn mine to the right to get it to work
does it work on a nissan
+Bobby Escamilla Perhaps. Is it a '99-'05 MkIV Volkswagen Nissan?
This is not how it works on my 2002 beetle. 1st key in ignition, ignition on, no start. Drivers door open 2nd key in drivers lock, all the way to the right (locking position), hold for 10 sec (may beep may not) then press lock 2 times. Then lock- unlock with original remote. Then new will work
I had to turn RIGHT for 10 seconds on a 2005 GOLF TDI
did not work
If you watch when he tries it the locks never move🤦🏻♂️
Best cars
