Notice the backspin dropshot at 2:30. Del Potro could have leaped the net into the doubles alley and slapped the ball onto the court just before it hit the ground. As long as you don't touch the singles court or the net, it's legal.
Murray's shot at 5:28 was actually a fault because the ball touched the net outside singles stick which is the permanent fixture. Djokovic should have won the point. "In a singles match played with a doubles net and singles sticks, the net posts and the part of the net outside the singles sticks are permanent fixtures and are not considered as net posts or part of the net."
Thành Đào-Công, this rule does not exist at the atp tour. Just imagine in Murray vs Djokovic Match that there was a single‘s net murrays ball would go in also. So does not matter if it hits the outside of the single‘s net...
TheCaveWarrior Do you know where the rules say that for ATP? I suppose the rules are universal otherwise ATP and WTA or even each tournament could change the rules and it would be confusing to watch. And if there was only singles net post, of course Murray's shot was legal if the ball didn't pass over the net. No rule states that you have to hit the ball over the net. But if you hit the ball to any permanent fixture before it lands into court, you lose point right away.
That should not have been Murray's point at 5:21 It should have been Djokovic's point It touched the net outside the singles stick (permanent feature) also it hit part of the ATP net signage (which is also clearly defined as a permanent fixture) But, it was still a great point!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in 5:52, if you play singles and put the single's stick, the net outside the single's stick doesn't count, so if someone hit the net past the single stick automatically looses the point, regardless of where the ball lands. Murray hit the ball on the net outside the single's stick and he still got the point.
Fortune favours the brave. The more aggressive the player the better chance that they will get some freakish luck. My luckiest shot was a ball that bounced off the net post and then hit the umpire's chair before landing back in court. We had a lengthy discussion about whether it should be counted as it had hit an object outside the court. The umpire ruled in my favour but I'm not sure he was right.
Very true, according to the ITF if the ball his any part of the net past the singles poles it's considered to have hit a fixture, and if the ball hits a fixture before hitting the correct ground, it's point for the opposite player
0:00 is not a regular hit. I think it is against the rule. Was it really a point for the player who threw up his racket? Once I read the offical tennis rules and as I remember it clearly says that the player must hold the racket when the racket hits the ball. If the player does not touch the racket when the racket hits the ball, he/she looses the point.
Jack Lo the rule says the raxket shouls be before and after hita the ball. That's not the same as you said. If you are skilled enough (or lucky enough) to do something like that with the racket it is not a problem.
Joe...don't guess and act like you know what you're talking about. This is a VERY famous point by Connors. And no....it did not count for the very reason given in the OP. Nor did Connors expect it to count. And his opponent ALSO knew it wouldn't count which is why he didn't make even the slightest move toward the ball which he easily could have gotten to. The reason why he didn't go for is is because he knows the rule, which says "A player shall lose the point if the ball in play touches the racket when the player is not holding it."
KnickKnack07 I love to read someone that for some mental problem has not the ability to understand sarcasm. I guess for some people is easier to write things like "don't act like you know" than use their brains. True story...
you forgot the point the williams sisters won against Errani-Vinci at the london olympics when they hit each others and fell but the ball still managed to touch the net and to do a winner x) Venus didn't realise they won the point x)
The first shot did not count for his point. According to ATP rules, I'm pretty sure you must have your raquet in your hand when hitting the ball and win the point to get the point.
RF does it 3 times in a row in a rally, then hits a net ball on a net ball to win a point. That's not luck, it's just pure god given touch and talent. I am certain he surprises himself sometimes.
Ostapenko, Halep, Sharapova etc...I will NEVER want to see them play. If I have to sit there and listen to all that screaming, I would leave after max 30 seconds...MAX!!!
net clearance is the keyword here. nadal moonballs on really hard balls to return (he moonballs with topspin). federer risks more and he always plays it flatter or just slices it (if he moonballs it's underspin, rarely topspin). basically nadal gets less lucky shots because he risks less, like djokovic. federer has a really offensive game and takes lots of risks, aswell taking the ball early with decreases net clearance probabilities. these "lucky" shots of federer's are just results of his playstyle
Don't include clips you can't see anything but smooshed pixels, waste of time. This is the only reason you have so many dislikes for otherwise good quality tennis. Disliked
Yeah these are really lucky. So lucky that half the time I can't see the freaking ball
So actually you are lucky because we now have technology where we CAN see the ball compared to many years ago .
maestro h yeah though I'm sure you can see the ball more clearly when uploader doesn't butcher the video quality :)
The 'throw the racket in the air move' at the very first beginning of the video was absolutely brilliant! I didn't even know that was allowed xD
RossFaderable it's actually not, he lost the point
I feel Rog literally has the skill to do this intentionally
The most stupid comment i red in a very long time.
8:18 Federer - I'm in a bit of trouble , better hit the net again
Benneteau - haha, you ain't that good I got it back
Federer - Sit down champ
So many Federer it’s almost like he does them on purpose!
bennjenn929 they really don’t. They look like they were lucky. Quit putting everything he does on a pedestal please
Greg Baxter That was a joke, of course those were lucky shots, all of them are. Just joking that he had so many of them. Sheesh!
bennjenn929 8:20 was my favorite
What pixel am i supposed to look at?
The blurry one. No no, the other blurry one.
Take your pick...
There’s plenty to choose from.
@@bcdm999 no i think its that one there
looool
No I think it’s that one
For Federer's 3 net chords in a row, I had to use my hearing to find out when he hit the net chord. Because I can't see!
Notice the backspin dropshot at 2:30. Del Potro could have leaped the net into the doubles alley and slapped the ball onto the court just before it hit the ground. As long as you don't touch the singles court or the net, it's legal.
Would be dangerous to jump over the net. not orth it

Thành Đào-Công i thought the same when i saw the Point!

0:30 golden pair looking towards the future
Video quality so poor, you can’t see the ball.
Gregory Ashton Bro These Clips are 20 years or older. You can’t make them better
That should not have been Murray's point at 5:21
It should have been Djokovic's point
It touched the net outside the singles stick (permanent feature) also it hit part of the ATP net signage (which is also clearly defined as a permanent fixture)
But, it was still a great point!
0:42 And I'll never see it at all. The quality is too crap to tell what happens.
Lmao I said the same thing, no idea what happened
he returned the ball and it hight the top of the singles stick then went in
I saw it🙄
During watching this video I hoped that the net would play against Federer one time at least. Vainly...
Hornet CZ jajajajaja, me too!!!
It happened once ! But he still managed to rush to the ball in time, and counter with his own "ball to the net"...
Obviously the net is a Federer fan duh

2:08... that was not luck, that was precision... hitting the net 3x in a row and the ball's not called out xD... Fed is a genius :D
Clijsters... I've seen everything now i can die in peace

Different Music how do u explain Federer’s match point? He was off balance falling backwards
This video should be named "Federer and a couple of other players hit let cords"
Yeah, these shots are so "lucky" that they typically happen about once per set at all levels of tennis.
johnbcollier the ones of them hitting the net where it would be out and going back into the court tho are pretty interesting
Awesome - we like it ☺
even the net loves roger...
4:22 "you never see that happen".... 4 minutes of previous clips all showing the same shot
The get at 7:00 by Baghdatis is spectacular!
Now I understand why Federer has 20 slams in his pocket. Guy's just lucky AF!!!
It's not luck if it was hit by Federer.
yeah its all skills
lol u stupid
Od course it is all of these shots were luck
@@victorlupas4875 lol it was a joke
5:29
Murray's shot is illegal, As you can clearly see at the replay at 5:54.
Very true, according to the ITF if the ball his any part of the net past the singles poles it's considered to have hit a fixture, and if the ball hits a fixture before hitting the correct ground, it's point for the opposite player
6:44 You're allowed to reach over the net in the case that the ball bounces back over. Not sure why he didn't try that.
Because it was too far over by the time he was aware of what was going on and got to it.
He shoulda jumped the net for it
I don't understand why they apologize when this happens. It's part of the game. Get over it.
Federer needs to chill, he is too good for tennis
5:20 it was Djokovic point... the ball touched the doubles net... crazy how nobody knew the rule
Federer tendría que ir al casino más seguido... 😎
c'mon fed, you're blessed enough.

Happened during an exhibiton match. Did not win the point.
0:40 what happened? I couldn't see what happened to the ball..
ROGER IS A LUCKY MAN☘️
3:59 WTF
the first point should be invalid 'cause the racquet should not leave the hand when in contact of the ball?
Jack Lo the rule says the raxket shouls be before and after hita the ball. That's not the same as you said. If you are skilled enough (or lucky enough) to do something like that with the racket it is not a problem.

Yeah, right: sarcasm. Why didn't we see that!?!
No rule about the hand that must touch the racket all time.
I thought this was 2018 not 1990, Oh wait they had better quality back then...
ikr? I'm still wandering which pixel I'm suppose to look at
See, it's just luck that Federer always wins...
not true
fedex is dominating everywhere
you forgot the point the williams sisters won against Errani-Vinci at the london olympics when they hit each others and fell but the ball still managed to touch the net and to do a winner x) Venus didn't realise they won the point x)
Does the first shot in this point count?
The first shot did not count for his point. According to ATP rules, I'm pretty sure you must have your raquet in your hand when hitting the ball and win the point to get the point.
Shot of Radwanska is just a lot of skill, and less of luck
El 1ro que tira la raqueta es connors?
even though i am watching this in HD resolution, i cannot see where the ball is
Roger Federer is The King :-O
Federer being lucky so many times maybe he is actually pretty good at this sport.
Federer definitely knows something
Who was Federer winning against?
That Ostapenko's shot still hurts :'(
Gabriel Hernandez well you could argue that Halep dug her grave way before that break point and this was just a nail
My favourite is Radwanska scream
The one again Aranxta Rus at 3:58 was just rude!
I don't know why most of them apologize even though they score a point!!
Anyone know why?

a dozen shots of Nadal are missing, often on opposing match points
nadal wasnt in this video because he only moonballs lol
Obi-Wan Banan nadal doesnt need luck to win xD
net clearance is the keyword here. nadal moonballs on really hard balls to return (he moonballs with topspin). federer risks more and he always plays it flatter or just slices it (if he moonballs it's underspin, rarely topspin). basically nadal gets less lucky shots because he risks less, like djokovic. federer has a really offensive game and takes lots of risks, aswell taking the ball early with decreases net clearance probabilities. these "lucky" shots of federer's are just results of his playstyle
As well as
Nadal has higher average speed and spin on his ground strokes than Federer so if that’s moonballing then I wanna moonball more...
So Federer is not only the best player in history but also the luckiest....
As an opponent once said to me better player better luck.
spywhale good saying, or "good players make their own luck"
I was hoping for Becker Lendl match point 😀
that was the most luckiest shot ever
See...that's all Federer is. Lucky. Take away luck, and he probably only has 18 Grand Slams in his career.
many of these points were played without a ball.. at least couldn't see it :(
If just I could see the ball...
I like those video's, too bad the quality is poor ☺
99% of this video should just stick to the replays
What is that song that comes on now and then? first at 4:00
John Gray's The Journal Kylie Minogue-I should be so lucky
I think my internet is not working. Why is the video quality so poor
Most of the time we can't see the ball.

Roger Federer simply the number 1
