Great stuff guys, keep up the spirit. Your kotegash and arm-bar reversals are like nothing i've seen before. One small point I notice most guys landing on their knee with their back roll. It's not so bad on the matt, on the street it could take quite a bit of fight out of you. I found that adding a little thrusting kick with the leg that's about to land clears the knee and lets me land with the foot first. Ous!!!

that seems to be a common thread in other martial atrtists i have met who have entered the Genbukan,welcome to the family ! if you get a chance to attend one of the up-coming Tai Kai's take it ,it is a rare opportunity to train with Soke that should not be missed

Tradition is very important to Tanemura Soke, and so, it is important to the rest of us. :) Over the years, I've come to see the value in it, and I'm proud to keep the traditions alive as they were a thousand years ago by true warriors. And the song is called 'Maudam and Escape' from the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack. Everything before 58seconds is part of that song too. The video was hard to make. I had to chop up the song too. It's all mixed up and probably twice as long as the actual song is. And then matching it to movements....so much fun though. This was my first. I think it flows ok. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Maybe I'll do more.
Thanks for your comment. Yes, it can be very aggresive. But it doesn't always have to be that way. Our goal that day was definitely to show it's aggresive side. And I enjoyed it very much. We can't use any of our techniques in competitions because its overkill and irresponsible. Can't even be considered. So it was kinda nice to do the demo and show off a little, lol.
Nice enbu and a good representation for the Genbukan well. I have to agree that the the maai seems a bit odd. This could be because of the forced perspective of the camera lens. The black Anthony is skilled in Taihenjutsu. I can assure the detractors of these methods that they are both relevant and necessary. Many of the techniques if carried to their full extent can dislocate joints or permanently maim a person. Acrobatics are sometimes the only escape left to someone in this position.Good job!
Nice video. Although the distance seems weird sometimes, esp. in the bokken techniques. The tall guy with his back flips is funny. for a show. I think it's unrealistic for a real situation. but I know - in a show you have to entertain the crowd! Well done!

But I feel now that I could have had that before. It was really up to me. I'm glad I left Bujinkan....but I didn't have to.

Because Ima Shidoshi and i will start as a mu kyu in the bujinkan not that its a big deal but Im like learning eveyrthing over while Im in the Genbukan Ima start my own ninjutsu organization its going to be mixed w elements from both bujinkan and genbukan I wonder how would that work?

It's not that Genbukan doesn't adapt to modern styles or that Bujinkan has thrown tradition out the window. Genbukan is definitely more strict with tradition than Bujinkan is but has definitely adapted to modern styles. And Bujinkan was very spiritual when I was with them and definitely paid proper respects to tradition. Genbukan is more strict based on my (limited) observations. Of course, alot has to be said about who you train with and the mentality of the student. Just gain the knowledge.
Where exactly is this school? I live in Columbia MD. Do you know Scott Teague? He has a school in Olney MD and I think he is part of the Genbukan. We used to train together in a school that no longer exists in Columbia MD that was associated with the Bujinkan.

You guys should try not going back in a straight line when someone repeatedly punches you....and the ukes should try to actually punch their partner rather than stop a few inches from where the head is ._. Also, use less muscle. sheesh. and for jodan uke, the point is to be grounded, not skipping all over the goddamn place. and when you throw, the point isnt to knock them so damn hard with your hips they fly over, its to take the balance and let them throw themselves. omigawd

That's the understanding I have as well. I heard Soke left to preserve the tradition of Ninpo and we ARE very strict with tradition.
