i can't speak for all of them, but the london pubs talked about are still open, i've been to three of them and the one i haven't looks more like a lebanese restaurant that also serves drinks. long live the pub!
I got to experience British Public Housing (Pubs) when I traveled to 🇬🇧 UK. Wonderful experience, love the traditional food and drink served at the pubs. Looking forward to visiting again.
@@MsRichycon I've seen old pubs in London turned into Indian restaurants. If you walk down any high street you can find them but few fish and chip shops or pubs and the fish and chip shops sell kebabs and fried chicken.
Loved this programme shows what we're letting die out which is a unique thing to the country and communities and a unique characteristic of the country that makes Britain what it is.
Jamie Stewart of the Double Locks took over the Duke of York Iddesleigh and turned it into a Sunday Times top 50 British pub......I used to see our (at that time ) Poet Laureate Ted Hughes supping his ale in the DOY....he lived at nearby North Tawton..... Loved his poetry but never summoned up the courage to talk to him......had a face carved out of Yorkshire Grit.......David Suchet who played Poirot was a regular there too..had a house at Lymington, I recall, maybe incorrectly...The great thing was that Jamie did not try to change the pub in any way. I think if he had he would not have lasted long. His wife was Pippa, I recall, maybe incorrectly.....Happy days.
Not so. As of the lockdown in December, all the pubs mentioned were still open, with the exception of the Mitre, Glasgow, which has been constructed in a museum. However, Youngs now brfew their beers in Bedford and Boddingtons Brewwery has been shut.

What a wonderful time capsule of 1994... you can’t beat a proper British pub, may the tradition continue through these crazy times 🍺
Well said fella! 🍻👏👏👏
@@BriggsonBeer I 2nd that.
A most enjoyable throwback to the 90’s. An excellent presentation. 👏👏👏🍻👍

You will find them a thing of the past as Marxism is closing them down very fast...
Yer the place is not what it use to be foreign hands have slowly degraded and watered down the English people

They actually drink in 32 pubs, as the 3 presenters are sitting in Johnny Morris's pub 'The Pelican Inn' nr Hungerford. Cheers Johnny!
Loved this, thanks for the upload.
I've always loved this video.

Johnny Morris of Animal Magic fame showing us around a pub!
Johnny seemed like a wonderful fellow.
@@oogletree He was a TV legend in the '70's.
Those were the days my friend......We thought theyd never end......Sadly , look at us now.....

The Peveril of the Peak at 1 hour:23 hasn't changed in the slightest since this video was made.
Peveril of the peak burnt down a few months ago unfortunately.
@@Jammo1978 Well they managed to rebuild it very quickly if it did. I was supping in there two weeks ago. ;-)
No it didn't, you got mixed up with somewhere else there. Still there and unchanged - although new land lord after 50 years so hope it stays that way
The good days when even a pie and a pint seemed to taste better.
I wonder if Ye Olde Black Boy is still called that today?
I went in there in 2018 and it was still called that then.
Like the intro from Mahler 3....good choice..
You can play this on a loop in a museum to show people what pubs were. Andy England 🇬🇧👍😭
I hope it never comes to this.
30 years on and theyre closing at the rate of 20.000 a week
Micro breweries could be the answer in saving the British Pub .
Unfortunately the peveril of the peak burnt down a few months ago.
Boddingtons shut down years ago now.
there is no way the film looks like it's as modern as 1994, looks like 1964!
All closed and curry houses now.
i think there are more pubs in my area than there were in the 90s...

In my town most of them are coffee shops not curry houses! God knows how they all survive, it's todays fad I guess.
I love a curry then a few pints after.
Please stop the music
