Levan explains what Devon needs to be number 1

  • Levan has commented that he believes that no one can defeat Devon in the 115 kg category, and there is a lot of merit in him facing someone who is more than 50 kg heavier, but in order to be the best he needs to weigh at least 130 or 135 kg. As we saw in their supermatch, Levan believes that Devon needed more shoulder and side pressure to beat him.

Devon would not survive the sheer volume of PED’s Levan is using. Period.
I love arm wrestling. The fact that PED’s are not hidden or frowned upon is refreshing. Nothing is hidden. No regulation. Which is absolutely fine in a sport that openly welcomes it.
But the argument that Devon at his age could do anything to catch up and possibly surpass Levan is absurd.
Devon is a legend in his own right. He has done it all. He has led arm wrestling and continues to lead it to heights it’s never been.

The first question Devon would have to ask himself is "Do i care more about the title, or more about my life". Eddie Hall cared so much about the title that he in fact was willing to risk his life to get a WSM title, gaining absolutely as much weight as possible and pushing himself as much as possible. The problem with Devon is he didn't want the title bad enough. He cared about his life more. I don't fault him for that, but in order to be number 1 in sports like this, sometimes you're own life and well-being has to come secondary to the title.

there's also a reson the highest category is called "open weight", think 120+ is more than correct. Any athletes over 185 will easily weight over 120kg so people don't have to over-bulk if they want to compete for the most prestigious title.
I feel like people who, like you, suggest more weight categories, think they would benefit athletes like Devon, who compete at low body weight, but they actually don't, Devon has been competing here because it is the most prestigious title and he wanted to give it a shot, if they do what you suggested, Devon (and probably other athletes in the future) wouldn't be able to compete in the open division, or they would've been forced to an unhealthy lifestyle to gain 20kg for a match. I feel like no one would benefit from adding weight classes over 120

@@luigimanzelli3786 you would not force anyone into anything mate. there are categories and people compete in them depending how much weight to they bring to the table . Open one means a guy with 60 kg can go fight a guy that has 180 kg.. will he win ? no.. but he can go and try.. a guy who is 180 kg can not go and try into lower categories then open weight one or super heavy weight . so as much as i understand your position i am not sure if you understand mine mate. Muratov for example is destroying all super heavy weights and he is natural plus roundish 100 kg . i doubt even Levan could stop that left hand.. so that is the proof that lower kg guys have a chance but in order for things to be fair we have categories.. and what we see is that the super heavy weight has become " strong " man weight category.. in short you can have 120 even 130 kg but if you go vs 180 kg guy you are not in fair position.. not even by a mile

I'd really like a technical explanation of why Ermes gave Levan a hard fight, Devon beat Ermes, but then Devon couldn't even move Levan. Was Levan in bad conditions against Ermes? Was Ermes injured when he fought Devon? Or is there a technical explanation, in the same way in combat sports one fighter could do great against a better fighter than himself but then struggle against an inferior fighter because of their fighting style.
I always knew Levan would win, just because he's a beast and the weight advantage is huge, but after seeing Devon lately i thought each round would he close and that he'd give Levan a real fight. But again, it wasn't even close.

Larratt will not risk his life to be the super heavy champ. I remember in an interview around 2018 which was about the same time he pulled Denis on the left arm that he loves arm wrestling but he loves life even more. He would have to be on soooo many drugs to be able to hit the 130-150 mark. If the only guy he can’t beat is Levan to be the absolute best then I think he’s making the right call for his health. He can still dominate the 105-115 class with little difficulty in my opinion.

He can still compete in the 110 kg and be the number one. If he stops roids he will lose 10 kg fast. Levan is just too big and too strong, there is no way a man who is almost 49 is going to get that big. Devon reached the limit, and he knows even though is stronger than ever, the gap with Levan is too big.
