    That ka-chunk of your hip! I can feel it. I have EDS hypermobile type and there is no mistaking the sound of a subluxation or dislocation. You are so pragmatic about the whole thing. No drama, just accept and move on. That's admirable. I know that we tend to expect pain and dislocations and put up with much more than most people would, but you exceed my expectations of myself. I also admire your organization skills. You're a superstar, Amy. Gentle hugs. I'm proud of you.

    OMG That noise was your hip. Then you just make a weird movement and put it back in place without missing a beat. I'm amazed and a little sad that it is just a normal thing for you. You're so organized but I guess you have to be. You handle all of this with such grace and a level of maturity beyond your years.

It's just some knowledge that would be good to have if I'm working in a community setting, we need to know lots of random things to support out clients. Some IV fluids have to be kept in the fridge to maintain sterility. If you get bags that have had the air removed, or air removed and tubing primed, they must be kept in the fridge until a few hours before use, they can be taken out and left out for 24 to 48 hours depending on what your home care company says. It's not always a matter of preference and sometimes must be done to ensure the fluids are kept safe.

    • @anthonypetrillo841
      @anthonypetrillo841 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Riiot09, that’s if someone opens the sterile packaging. I guess a nurse might do that to try to make things easier for a caretaker, but that’s not really a great idea. It’s super easy to spike and prime a bag, and it’s not ideal to put 3 degree fluids in your 37 degree body.

    • @Riiot09
      @Riiot09 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anthonypetrillo841 my home health company will not send out bags to patients with CADD pumps with air in them, it's a liability. I did state that if the bag has been accessed, it needs to be in the fridge.

    • @anthonypetrillo841
      @anthonypetrillo841 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Riiot09, yeah, but you don’t usually use a CADD to bolus a liter of Plasma-Lyte. Haha
      If you do, there’s not enough air in an IV bag to cause an air embolism; definitely not a liability. And if the patient is self-administering anything through an IV, he/she should know how to set it up. Your company can have whatever procedures they want, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t silly.

    • @Riiot09
      @Riiot09 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anthonypetrillo841 I get way more than 1L of fluids at a time. It also seems that we are in different countries. Different countries do things in different manners. I could say that some of Amy's procedures are silly but they are set forth by her home care company. If your home care does something a certain way, you follow it. Many people in the United States receive bags with the air removed. Not going to sit here and keep debating it with you. Bottom line if your bags have the air removed, it is not a matter of preference.

    • @buffya8012
      @buffya8012 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maayan Harris no! Saline is basically salt water,but specially formulated for an IV line,a feeding tube goes right into your stomach or intestine,would be very bad to put saline in it,you use sterile water for a tube...her line goes into a vein,so it’s pretty much a permanent IV,hence using saline to flush it...putting it in her tube would be the equivalent of drinking salt water or taking an IV med orally..not a good idea...a simple thing say to remember is if it can’t go in your mouth(or by mouth)it doesn’t go in the tube!

    No! People shouldn’t keep IV fluids in the fridge; it’ll drop your body temperature if you put 3 degree solution in your 37 degree body! Sometimes in the hospital they actually go in warmers. You do a really good job taking care of yourself; maybe one day you could be a nurse. :)
