To those criticising them... a majority of the people of Kerala have their relatives and dependants abroad out of which US and Canada are the major places where they can attain citizenship after a certain period of time. Even though Canada is comparitively easier than US to get citizenship, the struggles and hardships when you reach there like a student or immigrant are too much this is when they get paid off for their struggles. They happily shared this great news to their subscribers. If you can check, a majority of the US and Canadian people from places like India have attained citizenship when they were eligible. It is not just about being a citizen, it is something that country can offer the maximum to their people. Now, as we all know, Canada which comprises of majority of immigrant population is now of the topmost best countries to live in. Being a Canadian citizen doesn't mean that you are not an Indian anymore. A few years ago, there was some federal decisions in the US that forced certain laws that forced people from our country to get citizenship in US so that they can continue staying there. If being citizen offers you perks, it is all from the taxes you pay to the government. I am not speaking bad about India but under the current situations and circumstances, there are a lot of questions as to where the taxpayers money goes into in India.
Mainly the differences for PR compared to Citizenship are. Need to renew PR card every 5 years Need to reside in Canada for 3 years in the previous 5 year period Cannot vote in Canada There might be other things, but these are the major differences.
