Ohtani winning “NL Player of the Week” is funny to me because it’s like, yeah, he’s arguably the player of the century.
I'm glad Ohtani's story is developing into one where his contributions allow the team to win. Pre-Dodgers Ohtani postgame reports were mildly funny after hearing about his production and the result being the Angels losing.

You guys are killing me with this ceiling/high floor talk. It doesn't get better than what Stone has been doing. To say he needs to keep doing this for another year or so is crazy. Bobby Miller can't do this even if he gets to his "higher ceiling". I'm tired of velo talk. Velo doesn't mean anything if it doesn't have movement or location. By the way....95 is pretty fast.

Will Smith flies so far under the radar, I didn't realize he was slumping so badly until about 3 or 4 games back. I'm sure the league is recognizing Gavin Stone, but it'd be cool if the fans outside of the Dodgers fanbase did. He's definitely one of the elite pitches thus far this season in the league, and deserves it for the work he's done.
Taking turns with ups and downs b/e players but at least they have more than one stars on the team
Does Barnes get any credit for being the battery mate for Stone's first big league CGSO? I think he called a great game. Smith's funk is an opportunity for Barnes to possibly to get his BA up. 🙏
Congratulations to Stone on his first and giving the bullpen a rest day. Both Stone and Ohtani have been better than advertised. Let's hope this keeps going for the 2nd half of the season.
smith is not on ohtani, mookie or freeman's level smith excels when you have guys like mookie and muncy there for protection without them it takes away better pitches he normally would get.
Why did Will Smith receive that massive contract extension when LA has two premium catching prospects right behind him?
He's good but not great. Goes through long, brutal slumps at the plate. And he's NOT a cleanup hitter on a good team.

First, Smith has arguably been the best catcher in the league, and at the very least a top 3 catcher for the last 4 years.
And you never know with catching prospects. You hope one of them becomes a major leaguer, never mind as good as Will Smith. We already have Will Smith, so why risk losing a Will Smith only hoping to get another Will Smith? Just look at Keibert Ruiz. Top catching prospect and hasn't been able to put it together. We don't know what Liranzo or Rushing will turn into. Liranzo hasn't been tearing up A+ ball, with a 108 WRC+. Cartaya was failing in AA, and has a lot of swing and miss (like Outman). Rushing is the only guy that looks likely to make it in the major leagues, but as he's a prospect it's still a gamble just like how Lux couldn't quite put it together at the major leagues.
If one of these young guys turns out to be as good or better than Will Smith, then you can trade Will Smith 4 years from now as he's on a relatively cheap contract.
The co-host of this show today doesn't know what he's talking about with respect to Gavin Stone. Gavin Stone is a total stud ace.
The bottom of the lineup is still inconsistent
Their batting averages are pathetic. However, they are generating runs by putting people on base.
Always a chance that they can get a good batter for the bottom lineup, only issue for the team, everything else they're fine.
But bottom lineup will never be consistent. Streaky at best . sputters at best

Is there a Dodger handbook or something that requires always whining and complaining from "fans" and "media?" That must be it. And I'm sorry but there's something about dudes who never played the game at any real level talking about the machinations of a swing or a performance that drives me absolutely nuts. Hand those boys a jock and they'd put it on their heads.
Maybe there should be a baseball podcast tournament where they all have to play competitively. I'd watch it!

Time to let Rushing or Cartaya compete to be the next Dodgers catcher. Move Smith to an infielder. Smith doesn't have the build to be catcher, thats why his slugging % is plummeting since his rookie season. Smith can hit so moving him to a less physically demanding position will probably allow him to hit better
