constructive feedback on the mob farm: lower the hoppers a LOT so that the mobs take more fall damage so that they die👍
He used the mob farm for xp, if they die from natural causes they don't drop xp, so he wouldn't be able to get enchantments so easily.

I made the same simple moet trap, but instead of lava I used magma blocks on the floor with a hopper minecart beneath it constantly so when it killed the enemies it would suck up all their items and deposit them into a chest. Now I still did also have to worry about skeletons but I just ran around my little area until they walked off the edge accidentally. The only thing I really had to worry about was witches

You should make a underground base, they are really effective against mob hordes and you can grow trees and farm safely down there. It’s good for getting resources easily because you would live underground, and you could also turn it into an underground mansion, and it also could be like a doomsday bunker.
