Note and Correction: You can do the same with the ANY gun ammo that you don't use.. This strategy is more applicable on all difficulties up to hard mode. This may not be as viable on Impossible difficulty. There are 6 Levels of suit upgrades. In the Remake there is now more freedom to backtrack to access clearance level doors you could not access before. While backtracking to areas you've been already you will have random enemy encounters so you could also technically farm item drops from those enemies.
Generous with item drops is a little off. Sure, it is like the previous entries when you stomp and the body drops an item, but for me, it was always credits the enemies dropped, not ammo or health packs.
This is how I typically run things: -upgrade stasis and kinesis first -suit upgrades -And plasma cutter -ripper -line gun -force gun or contact beam I always upgrade my kinesis for 3 reasons: Ripping limbs off and tossing them back is weapon saver, selling contact beam ammo gives you more credits then usual, then I use the credits for nodes. Remember: Contact Beam ammo takes more credits , so selling them can give you more. Also, make use of your safe. Putting ammo and medkits away and hording makes it just as good as the OG.
Contact beam ammo dropped ridiculously often in my first run. It was my main moneymaker. Force energy is better to sell for the price but doesn't seem to drop as often.
Either way I was able to have every weapon I used and the rig fully upgraded well before chapter 12. Rarely ran low on any ammo type either. If you use the environment and minimize ammo use you can capitalize on all of this even earlier.
From a new Dead Space player, this is super helpful and I wish I'd known this much earlier. I'm chapter 5 and was wondering how I was supposed to be so leveled.
Buying the suit upgrades outside of the forementioned text, adds additional nodes in the the upgrade path, I'd recommend only upgrading health while low on it, since it'll fill you completely back to full, same can be same for a gun capacity.
I do the same. I sell all of the extra health and force ammo to buy nodes and plans rounds. On impossible, it seems to be giving me mostly pulse so for some reason.
I think the impossible mode is the same as hard mode in this version other than not having more than one save slot and not being able to die. So this is still feasible in impossible mode. I am getting a ton of ammo drops in my hard mode playthrough. I got the platinum trophy on the original DS and I think you are right about that though as the enemies were noticably harder and the ammo drops were less frequent, but you could also dupe credits with an exploit.
Yeh but the guy that made this video must not have got far into ths game, ths force gun ammo sells for more plus him not buying suits means hes not upgrading his telekinesis damage and his statis duration and size .
@@Chevalier_knight Fersure! Force Ammo can be sold for 6K and is a relatively quick way to amass store credits. I'm on IMPOSSIBLE MODE now and also find it useful to conserve ammo by throwing Stasis at enemies and stomping them down for drops.
Does any of these glitches still work?? Just got ps5 version on sale so just wondering. Played original and remember the endless node glitch too somewhere but not sure if that works in the remake. Could upgrade everything and when done, farm em to sell em for mad credits.
Thank you for the heads up I've been running past the stores I just sold and got so much more space just by visiting. I didn't realize I could also use it for storage and they are located all over I just ran back so far to the last one I bet the next was close.
Contact Beam weapon, all nodes filled, is awesome against HiveMind in chapter 12! I watched a player take out 3 of the 5 "bulbs" on that beast right from the get go. The remaining 2 were taken out shortly after. Then the necramorphs, followed by the HiveMind body parts to complete the game.
Playing the original myself there are some valid point to this guide however you don't really need to buy tech nodes since if you look around you can find 2 or 3 in them boxes round the map area so that spare credits you got you could treat yourself to more ammo or a new suit allowing you to gain more of a yield plus a small percentage of armor when you next return to the shop, however if you're looking to just optimise your setup then settle for level 2 or 3 since the spare slots are just there incase you got more then you can carry but as much as you should focus on the plasma cutter you should also focus on health, last thing you want is to be a glass cannon or yet worse a light snack for the Necromorphs since ya boi Isaac decided to skip the gym and didn't eat his wheetabix this morning.
I disagree. I was running with just the plasma cutter on impossible and ran out of ammo. Luckily I was close enough to the store to buy more but eventually I needed to use other guns because I dried up on plasma ammo. Also, that was with me using the environment to try and save ammo. The game isn't always generous with supply drops, especially on impossible (not to mention enemies are tankier too).
Holding 2 weapons I think is the sweet spot, too many guns and you’ll never have enough for eveything and having just one gun isn’t enough and can run into this issue
The best weapon in the game is your kinesis. Upgrading the range at least once is a nice quality of life because you should be using it constantly on hard and impossible. The first suit upgrade you can buy gives you access to more stasis, which is another amazing quality of life upgrade. Stasis and Kinesis are the two best ways of managing ammo and dealing damage quickly and safely. I disagree with skipping suit upgrades. I usually delay the 2nd upgrade a little for more nodes, but eventually it's nice to grab. The proximity mine (aka grenade launcher) is another amazing tool for dealing with clumped enemies and kills cherub babies in half a second. The force gun alt fire also combos with the pulse rifle and contact beam and main fire works as another panic button if enemies get close. While I agree that the plasma cutter is a good jack of all trades, ignoring the other weapons aside from a one gun trophy run feels like limiting yourself for no reason.
Tbh it depends on how much your carrying, if you carry only two guns you’ll be more ammo efficient so you can sell off something like line racks in tandem with this for extra money
There are certain places or enemies where the item drop is uniform for everyone, like power nodes from brutes or semi-conductor locations. Most item spawns from enemies or in lockers/lockboxes are dynamic and randomly generated. I've played through the remake twice and both times health packs comprised roughly 25% of my finds, with about 80% of this health packs being the smallest possible. Investing in the suit and its health and stasis upgrades early was a must.
So the force gun gives you almost 5K for a full pack, did you mention the contact beam because it comes into the game earlier? I’m not sure how many rounds go into a full contact beam pack at the moment I’m trying to do your trick now I just noticed a head force ammo and I saw the price on a force energy I should say
Are you sure you dont have it with you? It has to be in storage. Even if its not equipped it can still be in ya inventory. Make sure its on storage. The force gun ammo is valuable too
Im playing on hard and actually gave up using the plasma cutter early on cause it seemed so useless, I could stasis them and hit them with all well placed shots and still took an eternity and an entire magazine of ammo to kill one basic enemy, I literally have no idea how you would even deal with 3 or 4 of them coming at you with only the plasma. so Ive mostly been sticking with the pulse rifle and using the alt fire... Probably not the best choice looking at your inventory and upgrades, you really playing on hard and got all that shit? I think Ive only had one large health pack drop all game, damn.
