This so logical to me that I feel there's no one with even a basic math knowledge who'd do it differently. I've been doing this ever since late grade school in early 70s of the last century.
Well I first started learning algebra a few years ago and we don't do this. We do a variations of this, but it's basically a lot longer ans this is just the dast way. So i think this is helpful.
Thanks, this is great. We never learned to solve equations this way in grade school (I'm 35 this year). It's fun to refresh my memory on this stuff! Cheers!
1:22 lol so the trick that you're going to show me to do this faster, is the way I was originally taught how to do it. Good to know. I didn't even realize there was another way to solve this question. I'm so used to your channel showing me a faster way than I already do. I was wondering how you were going to make something different than how I know how to solve it, and you did not. This is exactly how I solve it
@@tecmath yeah man I love your channel, you've taught me how to do things in my head that I never thought I'd be able to. I wish people would have shown me a long time ago Like the square roots thing blew my mind. We were always taught you had to have a calculator. Don't even try it otherwise
do uknow the Trick to calculate any square with binomial formulas? i know a Trick to do that but the problem is I I don't have proof? if you want I can explain the trick to you I just need proof
In school teachers want whole prosedure step by step how to get the xs to see how we got the solution. And i my mind is the same as you write it, but you know school, you get every point for a procedure.
@@tecmath I learned a more drawn out way (which I could still do in my head with these examples). Tbh, I don't understand this method, but I'll have to think about it.
@@tecmath That's funny. Most tips from you I have never thought were even possible but this seems like the logical thing to me. Different nations, different teachers I guess :p

Well it's different for some really new students who are just about to learn this. It's good to have it on the internet either way.

Different teaching methods.
This comment thread is good because I'm seeing some people who learn this method and others who learnt the long process I learnt.
Josh you are awesome and make things so simple not over complicating things 😊
Thank you for watching, and thank you for your kind words.
0:54 love it when the most basic of math rules get ignored

When we needed him most, he returned
Thank you.
Loved the explanations... Thank You !
Cheers Josh!
Thank you.
Thank you. I teach special education and strategies are great!
Special education schools have historically supported racism, and nearly 2/3 still do (source: Wikipedia)
Thanks. I wish I had known this easy method in my school days.
Thank you.
I wish I had of been allowed to use it (was told I had to do it the way I was taught).
It's what has always been taught in school. There is nothing new he is doing.
For me I learned a drawn out way, but the way I did it in my head was like this

We learnt a ridiculously drawn out process...and never this more direct way of doing it. Judging by other comments it seems mixed.

Very nice but could you do maths on calculus, like differentiation and integration ≥¿
Cheers Josh ,brill 👍
Fokkin hell, I'm 56 damn near failed maths in my leaving cert exam. Why did no maths teacher ever teach us this?
Tremendous....❤
Wait I'm sorry, isn't this how you normally do it, or was there some longer way to do these in your head taught in primary school
This dude is only doing the standard Algebra that one would always do to solve standard problems.
Love it
The equation you wrote at 0:54 is actually wrong because of OOO (PEMDAS) it would equal 23.5
The right equation would be (x*3+5)/2
Also, the x squared equation is incorrect (you only found one of the 2 solutions)

i know a Trick to do that but the problem is I I don't have proof?
if you want I can explain the trick to you I just need proof
What's the trick? If it's some type of formula then you can always use PMI to prove it.
@@sirdonbradman8037 it's very strange
I do use this idea in other videos.
Please let me know however - there is always something new!

That’s exactly how I solve them. I thought this was how everyone did it…
No - it's not!
The way we learnt was excruciating.
Lots of drawn out steps, equations as simple as these taking quarter of a large to answer.
Okay so no tricks just standard.
It seems people (like me) had different experiences to you.
We learnt a ridiculously drawn out process...and never this more direct way of doing it.
