I remember when they built a bowling alley down Masbrough in Rotherham, it was as if it had landed from outer space and been plonked there, for the bowling alley was a piece of Americana that was surrounded by two up two down terraced houses, complete with outside loos, tin baths and cobbled streets. The bowling alley arrived in 1964, I was aged abut eight years old and I was in awe of the place, Pepsi machines, fast food and it looked so modern in our smoky, monochrome town. Sadly the bowling alley shut in the 70s and it was turned into Tiffany’s nightclub.

The Airport Bowl is still there on the Bath Road, Harlington. Frequented it in the 80s and everyone was trying to steal the shoes after Paul Weller wore a pair in a Jam video.

Do you remember when we wore stockings with suspended belts. I'd buy a new pair each week on pay day. I used to get all the ones without ladders in them and boil them up so they were the same color. When the button snapped on the suspended belt we used to use a threepenny bit lol. I'm loving this. Great memories. I always say that if we lost everything now we would survive.

We didn't have health and safety to restrict what we did or how we grew up. we didn't have cameras following our every move. We listened to our own private music. Paid for by cash. So no one knew what we listened to or bought. We bought tickets on the door. Not having to register our details. Yes, there was a lot more freedom and less oppression in the past.

Parts of this film are not true ,if you lived through the sixties you'd know what I mean.People lived very simple
uncomplicated lives in general. They worked very hard for very litttle but I think they were happier .
We had nothing remotely like the comfort people have now.Poor people now would have been classed
as well off in the sixties and most of them don't even have jobs.
