I have recently visited Ooty and would like to appreciate well maintained roads in entire Nilgiris. I travelled to Kodanadu View Point, stretch in Kotagiri, and in entire trip, did not find a pothole. It definitely added to the entire travel experience. Hatsoff to TN government. Needless to say, Ooty is a beautiful place. If you haven't been to Kodanadu View Point, try it out, it's little far from Ooty, but drive stretch is great, with very sparse population, full of greenery and the view point is breath-taking. There is a cottage too called Paradise Peak Cottage, if you want to spend a day or two, it's worth it.
Nice video. There are few things 1. Ooty city do not have monsoon rains. Ooty is in the middle of Nilgiri ridge point. West of the Ooty city gets summer monsoon (South West Monsoon) and east of the ooty city receive Winter monsoon (North east monsoon). Ooty city is a dry place, receive rain during non-monsoon time(April end to May mid) 2. In toy train from Mettupalayam to Coonoor, it uses steam engine(even today), from Coonoor to Ooty, it use diesel engine. From Mettupalayam to Coonoor, tracks have third rail with rack and pinion gear wheel. 3. Nilgiris offer many altitude and rain experience, Devala, O-Valley, Nadugani, Naduvattam is in same altitude and tea estate terrain like Wayanad(~1000m), so you get Wayanad experience. 4. Kotagiri-Kodanad and Manjoor-Manjacombai-Thaishola area sits in same height as Munnar(~1500-1800m), also has similar ridges and tea estates. So, it gives Munnar like feel. 5. Ooty sits in 2200m height, only Ooty and Kodaikanal city sites above 2000m in the South same height as Shimla. 6. Avalanche-Upper Bhavani sits above 2400m, they provide different eco-system.
Hi Vijay, thanks for mentioning such fascinating facts about Ooty. 👌🏻 This makes Ooty even more special than what I had explained. Thanks for corrections too.
@@apekshasarashetti5125 In June, it will be mostly drizzle, not heavy rain. But it will be crowed, weekends, you will be stuck in traffic, so explore places like Kotagiri, Kodanad, Coonoor-Kotagiri between areas. Ooty city sits >2200m height, higher than Kulu-Manali-, Darjeeling. Twice the height of Coorg, for ex. Ooty city is taller than any highest point in states like KA, AP, TS, MP, MH, RJ, GJ, DH, OD, BR, JH..etc. Nilgiri district is just 2550sqkm in area, in that 1000sqkm is protected forest. So in the remaining 1500sqkm, there is always a place that see rain and always a place with dry-perfect weather depends on the season, you need to find that perfect place.
