Anxiety in States as Rainfall Intensifies, Philip Jakpor Gives In-depth Insights

  • The Federal Government has revealed that no fewer than 21 local government areas in 10 states and the Federal Capital Territory have been submerged by flood as a result of heavy rainfall in the past few days.
    This was revealed by the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation Mr Joseph Utsev, during an interaction with journalists in Abuja.
    Mr Utsef says the Annual Flood Outlook by the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency released in April had predicted that 148 local government areas in 31 states fell within the high flood risk areas.
    Some of the affected states are; Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River.
    Others are Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Kebbi.
    States likely to be affected have been advised to take precautionary measures to prevent deaths and other disasters
