    Walman is still enough of an asset right now to deserve a penciled-in spot on this "improved" future roster outlook. The question for me is whether there is anyone else in that lineup that deserves an extension to stay. What is Ferraro actually good at that we should be excited about moving forward? It feels like his future is best served on a winner where he can play sheltered shutdown minutes with Toronto or somewhere else. The pipeline is average at best:
    Dickinson - No RHD
    Mukh - No RHD
    Thrun(?) - Thompson
    Cagnoni (high upside, possible long development plan)
    Unknowns: Havelid (hopefully Cuda save him next season, Landen, Roberts Laroque (probably AHL only at best)
    Schaefer really looks like a must pick if we win this lottery, even though i really think Porter is a great consolation prize.

    A coach does a lot more than pick the lines, my man. You talk about Warsofsky like his only failing is not putting together winning lines, but it's the way they _play_ under him that's the problem. The way he mismanages players' talents by running guys into a system that takes them away from their strengths, and lets Ulmer completely ruin their powerplay potential. Granlund solo manning their blueline when he's arguably their best powerplay goal scorer as the ONLY man that can rip a clean shot from the circle area--especially on the right side. But they stick him in a complete zero-threat position and tie his feet to the blue line. Meanwhile, Toffoli who does his best work down low or in the slot has no one to give him space as a threat on that right side so the sharks are left working the puck up and down the right side while the oppoent's PK overloads the left knowing that they only need to cover the slot and left with the sharks' main threat on baby monitor duty.
    But let's call it for what it is. He was put there because the ownership KNOWS he is a bad coach that they could fire after this season without anyone asking why. The same role Quinn played before him, when they tanked for two straight years trying to win the draft lottery. They wanted to tank, and they wanted a scapegoat.
    They knew this year wasn't going to be good, but it COULD have been a lot better than it has been. Again, this is just ownership/GM creating a scapegoat for an intentionally losing season. I said it when he was named, and I've seen it in him since day 1. He was second in command to David Quinn, one of the worst coaches the NHL has ever seen, and he coaches like a man who David Quinn knew wasn't good enough to take his job.

      Haha, glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way. The style of play everywhere is garbage, in every possible facet managable. Line choices are not very good. I agree with that childlike peewee hockey style on the pp and the we don't care if you spend 2 minutes in our zone PK. That being said our defense is not good at all. Partially players and partially style/coaching.
      I've seen worse defensive corps be acceptable.
      I actually have an issue with them using Smith the way they do on the power play as well. He has one of the better shots on the team and is relegated to point duty like Granlund.

      @@philobeddoe8342 Yeah, defense is terrible. That has been a persistent problem for the Sharks for almost their entire history as an organization, too. Sadly, there's very little we can do to help that right now. It takes a certain kind of coach to change the culture of a team, because defense is so much more than the D men. It has do with how a team views and controls the ice on both sides of the puck.
      Florida honestly doesn't have great defense, in a very literal sense, but they control the play without the puck by limiting the opportunities their opponents get. And those limited opportunities start when Florida is on offense. They force every turnover to be heavily contested, so that even guys that get away with the puck relatively clean are still dead tired by the time they start on offense. Just one example of one team's solution to the defensive quandary, but it's this type of total culture shift that allows the teams with superb defense to attain that status. If you only look at defense as a problem that starts when you don't have the puck, the team will always look bad defensively.

    Cant fault goaltending even when analyzing save percentages. doesn't tell the whole story especially when you have a bad team in front of you. just take the game against the Panthers:
    1st goal - DZ turnover - Vlasic’s backend pass should have been along the boards, instead he passes across the middle
    2nd goal - DZ turnover - Thrun was being pressed hard by their forecheck but his pass should have ben along the boards. Dont remember if it was deflected or what. I’ll have to watch the replay
    3rd goal - Geogiev should have had that
    4th goal - OZ turnover - Ceci fans on a shot from the point
    5th goal - Nice PP Goal, little chance to make a save. Wallman could have had better positioning
    6th goal - Liljegren could have blocked the cross slot pass better
    7th goal - DZ turnover - Ceci terrible breakout pass
    maybe a couple of these could have been a no goal with a better netminder, but doubt it. Dont think goaltending is the problem. For the last 4 years, it's been team defense (turnovers, oddman rushes, etc).

    The sharks need to get another top scoring winger in the off-season and get another top 4D d man and upgrade that defense a lot since Askarov is going to be a full-time NHL goalie because you don’t want to put him out there in front of terrible defense and offense

    • @stuartwilliams1598

      Walman, Ceci, and Rutta are all bottom pairing on a playoff team.
      Ferraro is likely a bottom pairing too.
      Valsic needs to retire and is way on the down side of the hill.
      Thurn is hopefully a bottom pairing in the future.
      Liljegren is a question mark?

  • @previnsnaidu1

    This team is almost done with the asset gathering stage of the rebuild. Once that part of the process is adequate then we can worry about wins and losses tbh. As long as Celebrini, Eklund, Smith and the rest of the young guys are improving then this season is progression

    • @TheDoc73
      @TheDoc73 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      See, that's the season we all wanted to have. Rebuilding and growing pains were to be expected. What they've decided to give the fans is a do-over of last year with a blatant tank that is absolutely going to hurt the development of every guy on the team.
      If this keeps up the Sharks are going to end up like the Coyotes. A team that ruins careers and prevents their prospects from blossoming into stars until they get traded. Prime example, Dylan Strome. A player seen as elite at the U18 level, but spent years under performing and being benched, until a good coach got his hands on him and reminded Strome that he wasn't supposed to be a career 4th liner.
      Will Smith is a very talented young man, but if the Sharks don't get a real coach soon he's going to turn into a 4th line player who actually believes he's not good enough to do any better. You can't ignore the fact that these players are being _forced_ to lose. The coaching is blatantly putting players in a position to fail, and with young guys like Smith whom I can see getting pained and frustrated over losing, it's obvious that they are being gaslighted. They're being taught the wrong way to play hockey and sometimes the damage that does to a person's career can never be undone.

    • @previnsnaidu1
      @previnsnaidu1 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ patience, most of these players won’t be on the team except Eklund, Macklin, Smith and Askarov. They aren’t ruining anything

    • @TheDoc73
      @TheDoc73 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@previnsnaidu1 Are you literally a corporate shill perusing sharks-based youtube videos trying to gaslight fans into not being observant?
      The only players they CAN ruin are those 4. You can't ruin the development of a player that you didn't develop. No one's claiming they're going to ruin Granlund or Toffoli or Ceci. The problem is that they have 3 future superstars, but that ONLY happens if they receive real coaching.
      Being told to play wrong just so the team can tank games is going to set their careers back multiple years, and they might NEVER learn how to play winning hockey if they really take the system to heart. It has nothing to do with patience. Nothing to do with wanting the team to be suddenly good. This is about the fact that the _only_ thing these bright young players are being taught during their most important formative years is _how to lose on purpose._ Don't pretend it's anything else, you shill. We all know that Warsofsky is coaching for losses, not wins.
      When a team takes the most promising rookies in the league and doesn't teach them how to win games, those players turn into Anthony Duclair. Sure, Duclair was never going to be a franchise player, but he was going to be top 6 without question. By his second year in Arizona he was being benched as a liability by every team he played for (including the coyotes). It took him 3 years _away_ from Arizona just to become a bottom 6 player who didn't get healthy scratched half the season. After a couple good seasons, he is probably reaching the end of his career, having never cracked the top 6, and spending most of those years being healthy scratched. All because the Coyotes intentionally ruined his development.

    • @previnsnaidu1
      @previnsnaidu1 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ lol I’m not reading all that. Just chill out, expecting the sharks to be anything but a bottom 5 team is just dumb considering the talent level on the blue line and the bottom 6

      @@previnsnaidu1 Yep, you're a shill. Can't read upwards of 8 sentences? Nah. You're still just trying to gaslight folks using a strawman to avoid the actual issue. Which is that the organization is intentionally screwing their young (currently imperiled) future stars out of at least one critical year of development to tank another season.
