Well, this is just another version of Uthappam, very common breakfast dish in South India. We use the dosa batter, add chopped onions and other seasonings and cook it on a well oiled pan.
These ones look much better than Uttapams, it's almost like savoury pancakes....where children would like and love to eat because there's potatoes 😋 added to it.
In Assamese, its called Panipitha.... Very famous old ethnic Assamese dish.... But after grinding rice, we kept it under sunlight for 3/4days......become more delicious 😋

Keeping in Sunlight for3/4 days, helps the batter ferment naturally. The batter rises (swells) & it also becomes slightly खट्टा after fermentation. Its actually not that hard if you have the mini type of pans. Its the larger ones that are hard to get a round shape from. Also the batter is thin. So it spreads fast ^^
I tried this recipie today evryone jus loved it !!!!!! I did not add baking soda bt still it came out yummy !!!! My mother in law hubby n evryone loved it !

Sukanya Mukherjee , you are right.. cooked rice can never give that crunchy outcome, though potato is added. It’s better prefer ready made rice flour. Can add a little coconut too. But again everything should be given a round in mixie for a smooth batter. And to blend the potato well . Ultimately good for children only 😃
With so much oil for one and aloo.. It has pretty high calories.. It's not for people who want to lose weight and for health conscious.. It's only carbs.. No proteins..

Correct , but we do in dosa batter , here they replace urid dal with mashed potatoes. And rest of the added items are the same.
