A big part of the video covered how soft tissue can impact sleep apnea more than facial structure.
My gf at the time never had sleep apnea or snored, despite having very small jaws compared to me, and even a tongue tie. (and she is a former braces victim)
Me, despite having pretty well developed jaws, width and whatnot still sometimes snored. But when awake i can breathe through my nose perfectly well. Better than most people ive seen. Something about laying down sometimes used to block/restrict my nose, regardless of what i did.
Sleeping with bed at an angle helped a lot. Blood draining towards the feet.
For me after myofunctional therapy and stretching my neck etc. greatly reduced my rates of snoring. Along with reducing carb intakes significantly.
(indian diets can tend to be quite carb heavy)
I started snoring more often because of terrible posture during desk job stuff. even with a higher end herman miller chair, regression of soft tissue happens first no matter what.
Sidenote:
If/when i do plan on something like upper jaw expansion, i think i would also need to look at deviated septum correction too. (after the expansion)
Spot on. MMA can do a lot but it’s not this end-all solution to sleep issues. For many people, simply losing weight would make a significant difference in sleep quality.
@@jeffrman777 for me im quite underweight, but yes sleep apnea from obesity or general swelling of tonsils is such a big issue.
Can you recommend me a dentists in MD, im considering MSE
Don't believe the unrealistic hype surrounding septoplasty. In many cases, unless the septum is severely deviated, significant improvements following this surgery aren't altogether common.
Furthermore you're having pieces of your anatomy excised from the body..scar tissue is inevitable. Sometimes this scar tissue builds up around the incision sites reducing bloodflow which will create inflammation and dryness. So I'd think twice about getting that septoplasty. It's always gonna be recommended because it's a guaranteed reimbursement and ENT'S instinctively recommend this surgery because they've been trained to do so and there's an economic component to the over-use of nasal surgery in general.
So far he's the only surgeon I met who will tell it like it is. He will outright tell you that MMA will not cure your sleep apnea. I think that gives people very realistic expectations, less disappointed patients for him lol
Can jaw surgery improve nasal breathing during the day ?
yes
It certainly helps the lower airway have more space, and so does lower expansion. Upper expansion, MSE, is fantastic for nasal volume.
Yes
@@henrykwieniawski7233 @maxaffe3195 i also wake up with nasal blockage would the surgery fix that?
@@mathfrom0to96should you do mse before or after mma
Anyone doing EASE in Australia….?
No. I believe it’s just Dr. Kasey Li
Lydia Lim of Chatswood does it with LeFort cuts, only Dr Li can do it keyhole
