I'm very young not even old enough to drive I love watching trains in roseville now I go out with my dad every Saturday morning, and I always wonder what it would look like when SP ran around there still
Active railfan of Sacramento. Not sure if it's just post 9/11, or UP just being horrible, but many of these angles and shots you took just simply aren't available anymore, let alone spotting almost any SP livery anymore. Gorgeous video. Thanks so much for sharing!
Do you recall where the piggyback loading and unloading was done in Roseville in the early to mid 90s and what the SP symbol for the Rocklin Rocket was? I've been trying to find any photo I can of the intermodal operation but so far nothing. I'm guessing it was in the old PFE yard but nothing conclusive. Any idea?
I always loved SP. It seems the company was not diligent in washing their locomotives from the diesel exhaust. Does anyone know why. If the loco was brand new, it looked awesome. SP never washed the cabooses either. Any former employees with wisedom oh r insight on this.

Nicely done! Amazing how many of those same SP, DRGW, and MPI units I saw in Mobile, Alabama on run-throughs on CSX during the same period!
I work here, never thought I'd see how different it was back then.
I Live in Roseville, What a Great video ! ! !

Sadly, many of the SD70Ms UP acquired from SP are now in storage in Tracy behind the Kelloggs warehouse.
@Rusty Shackleford That's about the time I was there. You can see them from the street between Kelloggs and the Amazon building across the street.
6:17 is just a darn great catch
WC in Cailforina! Now that some really foreign power right there
Slide at 2:21 with that date I could have been there! Darn....

This was good, long live SP. UP ruins alot of what it touches.
