Nowadays salt lake became an oldage home..in every alternate house you will find that parents are staying alone and children have settled either in western part of the country or in abroad. In our child hood we used to see that all houses of salt lake are well maintained but today the scenario is completely opposite. There are few agencies have started business in salt lake to provide services to old people like arranging doctors, medicines, depositing electric bills even spending some time with them..really sad😢

Bihar's reasons for economic backwardness require in-depth analysis. Bihar had been one of the most backward state way back from 50s. It was developing slowly. But. It suffered a strong jolt after Jharkhand having carved out of Bihar. South Bihar, now Jharkhand, cornered a rich resources of erstwhile Bihar... Be it Tata, Bokaro steel Plant, HEC, Jhatia and plenty of minerals. Bihar was, then, promised a special package as a compensation, which has not been paid by the Centre yet.
Besides, Bihar suffers very bad natural calamities viz , floods, famine and extreme climate.
Your advise for the policy makers and the Non Resident Biharis should be taken seriously. Your analysis,on GDP, is excellent and simple to understand. Regards sir. Naushad Ansari, Patna

Pepole in the eastern india now in a poverty spiral. They have no idea on earning scope, only wasting atleast 15 years for government jobs preparation and thus failing 99% of the youth who will not be able to get a government job (doesn't matter whichever government in the power). So at the age of 30 most of them are wasted.

Why states having coastal area grown?
    - Possible ease of international trades through sea
    - Sahyadri mountains made to have enough rains in ancient years which improved farming (Grapes, Sugarcane, Turmeric, Raisins)
    - Distances between from point one to point two i.e. east sea to west sea is less.

Most students go out of the jharkhand for their education and jobs because they don't get the quality education and job opportunities in jharkhand. And whenever I told someone that I'm from jharkhand they barely know jharkhand and if they know they don't even consider jharkhand as a separate state from Bihar.

If we do 2nd & 3rd level analysis of states with higher gdp like Maharashtra, karnataka & other southern states, we will again find anomaly. The growth is restricted in top 2,3 cities within those state whereas the remaining parts will average just like other low gdp states. So, my assumption is no govt in india ever thought of inclusive growth. The current growth is superficial and restricted to few tier 1 &2 cities only while rest of india is still lacking growth. If govt s both central & at state level are concerned with growing the tier 4,5 cities/towns then our gdp will surely increase in coming years. Jai hind

Obviously that was the last option for me as there are no jobs that can give you a good life. Unless you have secured a govt job or your family has loads of money to start a big shop. And thanks to that i learnt investing in last 8- 9 years and am quite happy with it (initially lost money as a rule and then started studying books and listening to market related topics on internet😃thanks to teachers like you - an ardent admirer of yours wisdom🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Sir chile also has a primary sector economy and it has a per capita gdp of 15K usd,the problem is not of which sector we are dependent,it’s about the quality of the goods and services produced by a country.

Sir, PPP should also be considered while comparing GDP per capita
Totally agreed with your point of focusing on tertiary sector as Haryana also being a landlocked state and agriculture driven economy (In past) still have high per capita because of manufacturing, IT, consulting and corporate offices at Gurugram, Faridabad area

Basant Sir, I am Yogish a big fan of your videos. You have done a good analysis of GDP of different states and related problems.
You also need to consider the fact that Maharashtra, Andhra, Telangana and Gujarat have more than 10,000 Ultra High Networth Billionaires / corporates. If you exclude these UHNI Billionaires for more than 60% population in most of the states per capita GDP could be below USD 1,000/-.
If we do not address the massive population growth - India's problem will get compounded in next 5 years. Expecting the Government is going to solve the problem of employment, infrastructure, health and education is just wishful thinking.

*Mumbai is the ONLY city in India to get 24x7 electricity* ... Imagine that... Even Bangalore... the IT & VC capital of India... has power cuts & all buildings there have generators.

I believe we need to find a way to increase income for farmers , Moving out of agriculture sector is not the solution . If no one does agriculture then what shall we eat ? I think we need to have a balance .

I think there is a political angle, when huge package will be given to bihar in coming budget due to political compulsion there shouldn't be much opposition from other states.

    • @rohitsawant5805

Even if Center gives Bihar huge budget if the local politicians and babus use it for their revdi schemes and corruption it will be of no use. Bihar will be back to the same situation after 5 years.
Corruption happens everywhere in India, it is a reality let's be honest. But even the corrupts netas of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka make sure that they develop their states, so that they can earn more through corruption in future, they leech of the system but make sure not to kill the hen that lays the golden eggs, in Bihar, UP, Bengal that scenarios is completely opposite.

Great analogy with explaining the GDP data. Precisely, why GDP Per Capita is the true metric of measuring growth, but, people simply don't understand, esp. the incumbent Govt and it's followers. All they do is Chest-thumping from rooftops, aided and abated by agencies such as the IMF, World Bank, RBI etc.

Very sad, you did not mention about telengana. Our state is number one in GDP per capita, barring small states like Goa and Delhi. Our previous state govt lead by KCR was too good. But people don't vote for performers. They want freebies.

There are geographical reasons too because of which Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh etc. are poor. These are mineral rich regions. In every country these mineral rich regions are purposely kept poor, for other regions to prosper. It is because if these areas are developed cost of mineral metal etc would rise and growth of country would be subdued. Being landlocked (less options for trade vis a vis Goa or coastal states), Migration, Political, are other reasons. During ancient times, Magadha Patliputra were key centres during Mauryan empires.
