I recently purchased a Predator 5000. Harbor Freight was running a 20% off sale so I couldn't resist it. Very pleased with it so far. My camper is a little bit smaller so I don't anticipate any issues. Thanks for your post!
I picked one up for my parents on the 20% off sale. Mine is still running great and they have reached an age where push button starting is very helpful to them.
I love my predator 5000. I use it to power my livestock trailer lights, ac, heat and anything I plug into it. I haven’t used it on gasoline yet. I run it on propane 100% just to keep fumes down around our show pigs. Great video, sir
I grew up with horses but we had tents back in the day when we rode and camped. That kind of trailer sounds great. Kind of like our toy hauler but for livestock.
@@glamplanding yessir. Gotta keep my daughter’s pig babies cool or warm. I never thought a pig could literally drop so quickly in the heat until we started showing. We brought a little girls pig back from the brink of death from heat stroke after just being exposed to 95 degree heat for 30 minutes. AC is crucial on long hot summer trips for the pigs. Cold not as bad since their body temp runs 101.5 on average
Was looking for video review just like this one. We’ve sold our two 2,000w Predators to purchase the 5,000w dual fuel generator. The biggest thing was of course running the A/C. Thanks GL for this video. Will be looking for an update after you’ve used it for awhile. We’re looking to purchase before October (when our camping season starts for us).
Appreciate the reply! I just really used it for the first time this weekend and it was great. I didn't get any footage as I was using to help our church's youth but may do a short recap video on what I'm about to tell you. I filled it up and ran it roughly 10 hours or so. It ran the AC all night and a friend slept out in the garage with his CPAP machine. I checked the gas and it used just a bit over a 1/2 tank. It wasn't a hot night so so I'm guessing the compressor only ran about 40% of that time but I was really happy and impressed with its performance. Thanks for watching!
I went to buy a second 5000. Both my local stores had pulled their display unit off the shelf. I noticed the 5000 had been deleted from HF website. I finally got in touch with customer service. There are a batch of these units that have propane issues. The issue is after 70 hours running on propane the electric starter quits working and the remote start quits working. The units will still start with pull rope. The serial numbers are 230615xxxxx thru 230628xxxxx. Harbor Freight will replace these units when new units become available . Estimated time is december or january .
@@Plumbarius1965- I purchased the 2yr ext.warranty on my 3500 for $149 and 24 months later traded the 3500 for the 5000 so the warranty was a good investment but now the 2yr ext.warranty is $309 for the 5000 so I may pass on the warranty. If I buy the warranty I’m covered for a total of 27 months and can trade for a new generator if I choose but if I don’t it’s $13/month waisted..
Advantages with both decisions...If you have room for two it makes things a lot more flexible for you. The 5000 is heavy but manageable with the wheels and extendable handle. I believe it weighs around 100 pounds so I can lift it to put it int he Sequoia when needed. The 9500 would probably require two people...even if I could handle the weight the dimensions would make it tough for me but would power almost anything you would ever need by itself. Let me know what you decide.
Totally disagree with that…no reason to pay more for the name. They are awesome but the Predator line has shown to be as good and reliable as the Hondas for much less $
I don’t really disagree in the fact a smaller one would run it. I have a toy hauler and have room for the bigger one and I bought it the weekend it came out so price was close as well. I also live in rural area so nice to have in the winter time as well just in case. Thanks for watching!
I’m watching this video it is disappointing that I paid $1000 for mine that I returned but those were the ones that had a recall on them now they’re back on the shelf for 1100. I may return my 3500 today and take the 5000 and start using it with propane the idea of having gasoline in the back of my truck with the backflip over it holding fumes and concerns me. Thank you, cajun 😎
Thanks for watching! I went to my store when I heard about the recall. The manager was awesome and took me in his office and we read it together. From what I read and understood it was a certain shipment that had to be returned. I got mine in the first couple of weeks and it wasn’t recalled. It’s been running great! It’s a great generator. Best of luck!
Hey thanks for watching! While it is pretty heavy at least at this point in my life I can lift in and out of my truck😎 I could see that being an issue for some folks though.
All of these chinese generators have limited replacement parts availability but they are 1/4 the price of a Honda or Yamaha. Dependability and parts are a bit of a risk but you are gambling with a lot less invested. My 3500 ran fine for 2 years ownership (only 55 hours) but other guys are running the 3500 thousands of hours trouble free. I upgraded to the 5000 and may not buy the ext. warranty as I think the 5000 will prove dependable.
You are correct and not crazy. I believe it was $999 when it first launched (that is what I paid) and may have went up after it was on sale for 30 days. Not sure.
Sorry you had issues...historical they are known to be pretty robust and dependable. If you only had two weeks I believe Harbor Freight will replace it. Seems like it would be worth the time and money to ask. I will give an update after I've had mine for sometime.
I don't know why it irritates me but I can't stand when they put their hand over the screen at the end, anyone who does this for just don't watch their videos

Nice. Just picked one up today with a 25% off coupon. I have a 30 amp RV too and hoping to get some good use out of it. Happy new year!
Great deal! Mine is still running strong!
Good to know!! @@glamplanding
I just purchased mine with the same coupon! :) Still considering buying the extended warranty within the 30 day window. Any thoughts?

I went to buy one of these this weekend. They were out of stock and also pulled from the website.
I am trying to decided if I want two of these or one of the 9500's for my food truck

My buddy runs 1 9500 on his food truck with power to spare. He has a full service truck fry, grill burgers

I have it but doesn’t seem to power any try but on any tips? I keep hearing the breaker on the generator but can’t seem to locate it
The 3500 W generator would work fine on your trailer. You could run the AC and a coffee maker. Most of the time.

Where is the serial number located on the Predator 5000??
But can you lift it and load it by yourself, that was the problem I had

Where did you connect the ground spike?
It is on the front, but also you can use a neutral ground bond plug to keep camper surge suppressors happy.
What happens when you need parts ? Throw away units

Ever try to run this off of the propane from your trailer?
I haven't yet...but an off grid Memorial day camping trip coming up may be the perfect time to give it a shot. I will let you know how it goes.
90 day warranty?
Yes...unless you buy extended coverage according to their website. Your mileage may vary but that is what I understand.
220v plug in?
It has a 30amp plug to go directly to your RV. My first response was incorrect and I have edited the comment.
