One of the best hidden gem movies! Words can't express how much I love this movie. It was very well acted, well scripted and most of all very thought provoking...will never forget it.
I LOVED this movie, saw it in class, and instantly fell in love, i cried when i saw it. The story was a little confusing at first but after i got into it i was totally and completely in love.. one of the best movies becasue of the acting and the soundtrack... In my personal opinion i find that Peter is mature because he knew what was right, and stood for it... but Arvid did what was right from the beginning
My brain didn't even connect that he is the same person as the CHRISTIAN BALE of today. The first thing I saw him in was Newsies, but this shortly after. It's amazing how much his movies have changed my life, and now he is playing my favorite comic character.
Not bad, not bad at all. A pretty good edit. Probably overemphasizes the seriousness of the film's subject matter, and underemphasizes the sheer joy of the music and dancing. Because that is what I ultimately walk away with when I watch the film. The "Sing sing sing" central dance scene is what always bring me back to watch it again.
I love this movie. Thomas (Christian Bale) fate is left open to questions, since he made Arvid commit suicide and turned his father to the Nazis and broke his family, but he tells Peter to run away when the Nazis are coming for him, so the character is very ambiguous.
The eyewitness Günter Discher (1925-2012) was traveling very often to hold lectures on his youth in Nazi Germany, the dangers of being involved with swing music and the swing kids and his time in the concentration camp. Roughly according to his own memories and terrible experiences the US movie "Swing Kids" (1992) was shot. As one of the few original swing kids, concentration camp survivor and working DJ Günter Discher always was a popular guest in talkshows on TV and radio. (taken from his still existing homepage)
.. he deserves all the popularity and the appreciation. :) he is really a talented actor, who is literally willing to give all of him to the role.. He is so dedicated to his roles, it's really a joy to watch any of his movies. :)

Saw this theatrically on its original release. Saturday evening, opening weekend. Handful of people. Solid movie but there just wasn’t an audience for it at the time. Surprised they didn’t make a stage version of it; that would’ve been a better idea than adapting the other Disney musical flop from the early 99’s, Newsies. This fake trailer is just ok, though. The rhythm of the cutting is all off, and there’s no momentum, but it’s a decent try.
Can't wait until they show the Wokesters as villains in movies instead of heroes. Enough of Hollywood propaganda making heroes out of villains who are just as vile as the arm banded people in this film.
Good movie, but I thought it would've been even better (and WAY more believable) if the dialogue were in GERMAN! HELLO!? Subtitles are fine with me, but I'm sure the Almighty $$ determined that with an English script, the film would make way more money. That's reality. Sigh.
