It's kind of ironic that out of all the big bad Scarrans, Emperor Staleek is actually the least overtly evil. When you put aside his plan for galactic domination, Staleek is actually a pretty nice guy. He even seems kind of disgusted with the way Scorpius was born and raised.

Farscape would be a great tabletop game setting. If there already isn’t one. All the lore, races, tech, and odd little quirks would be fun with friends
Even though the Scarrans are in only a few Farscape episodes, they're such a great creation that it feels like a lot more. The one inconsistency regarding the Scarrans is their natural defense against the Peacekeeper's pulse pistols. At first they're not supposed to have any effect on them, but the writers later abandoned that idea. I guess you have to create your own reason for this.
In any future Farscape, I think I would enjoy a continuation of the theme of introducing a new antagonist and shifting the Scarrans to an uncomfortable ally like Crais and Scorpi before them. Either way, I think they'll be a great addition and there's many more threads to explore with them.
They setup the Scarrens really well, introducing them late, making them merciless, hard to kill, making them tougher than the peacekeepers. Short and Long faced. Best bad guys
I realized that there are different types of Scarrans, but I never thought that the look was changed for good. I just thought there were these different sorts of Scarrans. On the emperor´s ship there would be a lot of posh staff (For example, on the Austrian court, in Sissy´s time, even the babysitters would be countesses or baronesses). So in Peacekeeper Wars we see a lot of short-face Scarrans and long-necks that look a little more like short-faces than the former known "horse-face" Scarrans (Crichton points out the difference, using that term in "I shrink, ...") like Nag´ghul. But we know that the subspecies can mingle (Aknar has a long-necked lover). So the long-necks on the emperor´s ship might be inofficial offspring of short-faced Scarrans, who mingled with servants or perhaps soldiers.
i remember that it was mentioned that scarrans like to interbreed with other species to evolve their abilities that is how scorpie was created in my mind that explained the different looking scarrans. also i found it interesting that sebations who were afraid of change and scarrans who forced change were still so simmilar in their actions
You have a point! They are supposed to be reptiles, but they have nipples. I theorized that historically they might have been full scale reptiles, and their current state is the result of interbreeding.
if there is a revival by all the God's there has to be a Believer at the helm or I can see the Scarrans getting the same treatment as the King ons (who?) LOL 😇
I loved Nazgil(sorry I have no idea how to spell it) and lets just take a second to appreciate the glowing eye effect they put in his eyes, because that's all in camera.
I always imagine a official crossover between firefly and serenity and farscape with the sebaceans and the alliance from farscape are at war against each other
Great video! A quick correction though: the T-Rex scarrans are in fact seen later in the series. They are guards on the Katratzi base, with several scenes and speaking parts. In fact, the last scene in your video is both from season 4 and contains a T-Rex. 08:15 And 08:27 contains at least two
@@FarscapeContinues just to confirm-according to your views, representatives of the long neck type would be Naj Gil and Pennoch. Whereas the T-Rex type is represented by the scarran interrogating Crichton “won’t get fooled again”, Wolesh (Scorpius’ daddy), and the scarran who Grunchlk had on ice. Is this correct?
@@FarscapeContinues I heard that the recipe for the makeup changed between the 4th and 5th season, that might explain the slightly different between NajGil and Pennoch. Although I like my hybrid theory.

I vaguely remember a scene where Crichton mentions to janak that he didn't "look like the typical horesfacd scarren," or something.

They can be killed if shot repeatedly in the same place with a pulse pistol or shot with a powerful pulse rifle that has a higher caliber.
@@Ratraccoon And they must have a sensitive spot. Or maybe the females are a bit less resilient.

I agree, but then who or what becomes the new antagonist?
@@lifeispainandpleasure The Nebari? The Establishment finally begins its conquest, using its contagion and a number of other cunning tricks?
If there were a new Farscape show, I'd want to see a Scarran main character as one of the protagonists.

Yes. And the mind probe really was a tough thing to deal with, too!
I like the way you handled the Mivocks joke at the end, focusing on the fact that Scarrans have a sense of humour, rather than the joke itself
Thanks.
Don't forget, they are snappy dressers.

Yes. NajGil was the only sympathetic one we knew, they finally could achieve some common ground with a Scarran. Shame that he died.
The Scarrians are what the Gorn should have been in star trek.
Those giant lizards are scary asf 😳
