Curzon Cinema Clevedon: The Oldest Cinema in England

The oldest cinema in the world! Step back in time to this art deco, 1920s cinema.
Visiting is a wonderfully nostalgic experience, but one that was almost lost forever, when declining audience numbers meant that the cinema almost closed its doors for good during the 1990s. If it hadn’t been for the determination and passion of the people of Clevedon, this cinema could have faced the same fate as many other independent that have permanently closed.
In this video, we visit the Curzon Cinema in Clevedon as we celebrate its 112th birthday. I'll show you around the auditorium, recently reopened balcony, the projection room and you'll hear Christie: the cinema's 1930 organ. This is a fantastic piece of British history.
Located in Clevedon, a unique coastal Victorian town in North East Somerset, the Curzon has been welcoming visitors since 1912. A real gem in the south west of England, so be sure to add to your travel itinerary.

Hi. I worked in Banbury Oxfordshire as my main cinema but hardly ever took time off as on my days off, I would travel to Oxford cinemas. Obsessed is not the word for me. I miss it so much, no other work like it. So many memories to share.
