I think Imelda was a victim of a bad script, she barely appeared in her own season and her dialogues was just the same , I hope next season she will shine more
I am a Broadway actor and have been an actor since 1970. I think you’re great. I love hearing you. I love your interpretation and your sense of humor. Yes, you are fabulous.!❤❤❤❤❤❤
IMHO, Claire Foy did a remarkable thing. She portrayed an historical figure and brought her to life in a way that humanized and familiarized her to the audience. We came away admiring the Queen for the way she stepped into the role and embodied it so flawlessly while putting up with so much nonsense from her family and government. I think most people probably feel we couldn't have had a better monarch.
Great analysis! If I were to play devils advocate, I would disagree that Claire Foy did not have a lot of humor in her performance. I think that was purposeful because of the age of Queen Elizabeth. She was playing in the events that went on during that time. If I was in her shoes, Queen Elizabeth’s, I probably would’ve not shown any humor due to the fact that father has passed, and I now have the stress of having all eyes on me while running a country you wouldn’t wanna step on any toes, and I think seasons one and two she’s still figuring a lot out in. However, I do see through experience that she would’ve relax a little less the humor in Elizabeth Coleman’s performance.
I thought one of the most poignant scenes was one that you featured of ER with Porchie when she shares her feelings on "The un-lived life". She was tentative, out of her usual comfort zone, but determined to share her thoughts with him. When she was called away before making any more revelations, his disappointment and anguish were palpable. Memorable scene and so relatable.
Elizabeth and Porchey would have been as miserable as Princess Anne and Marrk Phillips. HMTQ was way above Prochey! She was born and raised to be a queen!
- Claire Foy portrays her as a vulnerable young girl with a shy introverted personally trying to do well and behaving in alignment with her 'good girl' education doing her best to internalize her hypersensitivity to criticism. - Olivia Coleman portrays her as a stiff upper lip middle aged woman with no tolerance for emotional fits, with a few moments of self-admitted 'weakness' seeping through. - Imelda Staunton conveys the portrayal of an emotionally detached and cold-hearted yet wise, pragmatic, caring and experienced, compassionate grandmother with a greater tolerance for change and greater room for contemplation.
2:39 Clair Foy accurately portrayed the facial and body language of the Queen . Who's idea was it to have Olivia Colman to portray the Queen as bit ditzy ? Queen II was not ditzy .
My favorite seasons) 1 & 2 2nd Favorite) 3 & 4 Least Favorite) 5 & 6 I did not care for Imelda Staunton, just couldn’t understand her. I loved Claire Foy and Olivia Colman.
As good an actress as Imelda Staunton is, she wasn't convincing to me as Elizabeth at all. Part of that, I am sure, is the writing, which in season five was garbage, but she looked cold and miserable the whole season and therefore it was hard not to see her as an out-of-sorts Dolores Umbridge. Claire is easily the winner and if there was ever any doubt, then the fact that they keep bringing her back to play little flashbacks should tell you. Coleman and Staunton don't hold a candle to Foy's performance.

Honestly yes. Her character wasn't written as the center of the story anymore!
Claire Foy hands down 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Wishing you high numbers and looking foward to more.
I love Claire's performance so much! But my favorite has to be Olivia Colman
