Is Louder Faster? Dyno testing Arrow vs A16 exhaust silencers.

Dave is at Black and White bikes to Dyno test his BMW with the Arrow exhaust and a replacement A16 silencer to see if more noise really means more power.

I have seen on my 2018 S1000RR that the short Akrapovic (or Arrow) silencer made less power and torque than the longer silencer they offered and the noise, while still loud, is much more bearable with the longer silencer.

Engineering is faster, less weight is faster, and less weight means the tires and the suspension have less fade, which equals faster.
More sound also means more tickets and points on your license. Speed and stealth!

Thanks Dave, great video. I know the A16 was quieter but wouldn't the same size exhaust internally (not 50mm) have made it purely just about the length of the can and the noise? Maybe the A16 with the same size internal pipe could be quieter and not lose the 1/4 horsepower and torque?
Also, what made you go with Arrow over Akrapovic for the exhaust on the BMW?

I would have liked to see a dyno run done with the arrows DB killer installed, I assume your not running stock headers and no Catalyst too?

My RR5 has the arrow duel Motogp titanium system on it, I’d be very interested to know if it makes any difference, other than upset neighbours…. Might get a dyno done locally. 👍👍
