In any separates system, one should always power on the source, dac, preamp, and finally the power amp in that order as a rule of thumb to avoid any nasties coming thru one's speakers. When powering down, start with the amp, preamp, ect..., all the way down to the source. I learned the hard way that one should not plug and unplug cables with the system powered on. It was an expensive lesson for sure. Thanks for your review Tharabar.
I sold my Vidar last week and I have a TS A75 for about a month or so. There's nothing to compare between them. TS is a BIG upgrade - better resolution, better bass speed and definition, cristal clear midrange and lively, but precise highs, and airy soundstage. My speakers have 89.5dB sensitivity and TS is deadly silent on them,
I appreciate the feedback. I'm looking at purchasing and my speakers have similar sensitivity. I am looking for impactful bass, but still airy. It sounds like it delivers.
I confirm the lack of bass in the amplifier (because of the same song in past Tharbamar videos and I am playing the album). Looking at the inside of the amplifier it is illogical so it must be intentional. It will sound good with the Galion TL, which has a lot of excess bass, but not with other more neutral speakers. I highly recommend a new version of the product -> MKII foobar2000 2.1.5 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1 log date: 2024-06-04 17:58:16 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: Grace Mahya / Last Live at DUG -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR Peak RMS Duration Track -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR9 -0.27 dB -11.60 dB 7:57 01-Route 66 DR15 -0.28 dB -19.07 dB 4:38 02-Moonlight in Vermont DR10 -0.27 dB -13.72 dB 6:27 03-bei mir bist du schon DR12 -0.27 dB -14.91 dB 6:30 04-Kiss of life DR16 -0.31 dB -23.45 dB 4:26 05-Mona Lisa DR8 -0.27 dB -11.14 dB 7:12 06-Comin Home Baby DR11 -0.27 dB -14.19 dB 3:55 07-My Heart Belongs to Daddy DR11 -0.27 dB -13.59 dB 4:19 08-Teach Me Toningt 👈 DR9 -0.27 dB -11.10 dB 8:34 09-Sunny DR12 -0.27 dB -16.87 dB 6:20 10-The Way We Were -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of tracks: 10 Official DR value: DR11 - Greetings from Tarragona (Spain/EU) -

Great episode! Thank you for doing the TS A75 vs. Vidar 2 comparison as these are both on my short list. It seems as though Thomas has done his homework. Thank you an keep up the great work, And I'd love to hear that Gary Moore album on the TS A75.
Good review. I too found the bass to be less punchy (than my NAD C 298 and my Emotiva XPA-5). For me, the treble is its strength: more air and clarity.
I have TS A75 and the Ladder Bach preamp and my Speakers are Arendale 1961 towers and two REL T/7x great amp but I need to get a good DAC. This amp it's what I wanted in sound and imaging ...
Btw Tharabar, if you really want to open up your soundstage and add extra depth with your Freya, get your hands on a pair of Sophia Electric Blue Bottle 6Sn7s for the gain stage. I am running them with a pair of Northern Electric 6SN7s in the buffer stage. The Sophias are not cheap by any means, but now I understand why they are priced as such. The JJ valves sound glary and boxy in comparison.
you said it sounds like tube, but does it produce 3d holographic imaging like the singer is performing in front of you or do you get more like a mid hall effect? thanks!

Great video as always. Anybody know how this compares to the Fosi V3 Monos? I have maggies and don't listen loud, maybe just 70-80db in medium size room.
V3 is an entry low end product that can give a decent experience. This is a great higher end product for an amazing prize. Got them both and the difference is big......
it needs a control knob on the gain of the amplifier I did tell Thomas this but as usual falls on deaf ears. they've not put it in. this would help a lot with matching preamps, if you've got a separate volume knob/ passive preamp, you can use that between your preamp and the poweramp. sounds like it needs a higher impedance what would help, if you haven't got that you could try a 200 to 400 ohm metal film resistor half a watt. you shouldn't be getting all this transformer noise I wonder if you got a lot of DC on your line?? have you got a cheap multimeter, put it on 600 DC volts and connect it to the mains plug socket be careful!! and measure the DC, shouldn't have much under 3 voltsDC might be worth getting a DC block! if it's high this would cause you to have transformer hum. check your polarity of all your equipment as well make sure that all the same you'll get cancellation if one part is out, sometimes the transformer can switch polarity even if it's connected up currently if it's not a very good transformer. it's debatable if it makes much difference because it's transferred to DC anyway but I like to keep it the same. there's no need to use thick wire for the subwoofer, that you'd be better off with thinner wire 20 or24 gauge should be fine! running into the speaker terminals on the subwoofer. it can be beneficial to have a bit of resistance delay in the signal to the subwoofer this can give a better matching at lower frequencies you can achieve the same thing by moving the subwoofer back from the main speakers ideally a metre half a metre would do measuring from the front of the baffle to the front of the baffle of the subwoofer a metre back will give you down to 20 hertz half a metre give you an octave above. but it's important to make sure the measurement is correct for phase alignment you can get cancellation if it's not. what can be used as room treatment if that's what you want it for. try 40 Hertz crossover usually the best option or if your speakers go really low maybe down at 30 Hz the sound test comes over a bit harsh in the mid range ummm
I’m just very sensitive to noise, Accuphase E-4000 is dead quiet even when I put my ears on it, Galion TS A75 transformer noise is very minimal most people may not even notice, thanks for the advice.

Thomas voiced the amp. I think of him as a CEO and Product Manager, with an external collarative party providing technical talent. The arrangement could be joint-venture or work-for-hire. In either case, the difference between his model and an inter-company collaboration between product and engineering teams shouldn't matter to the consumer. If the product is great, the product is great.
