      Natalie Bennett Congrats on 30k!! 🎉
      Mastitis is so painful and once you, have it once, you more than likely, will get it again! =(
      Frozen or cold cabbage leaves, are really good to use, once the symptoms begin! You put the cabbage in the fridge or freezer, and pull off a leaf, and put it in between of your sore breast and bra!
      I myself, put the cabbage in the fridge, and would put the cold cabbage in between my bra and sore and swollen breast, and I would also, rub in a downwards motion, from up by my shoulder, down to my areola, and between doing both things, my mastitis went away on its own!
      I wouldn't recommend, taking antibiotics, every time you have mastitis! Try natural home remedies first and if they don't seem to help within 3 days, then call and or schedule an appt with your doctor.
      Lastly, and this may sound a little weird to you, but continue doing daily massages on your breasts! Begin by, rubbing in small circles, where you had the most pain from mastitis, then, massage in a downwards motion, from up by your shoulder and down to your areola, and from all sides to your areola, until you have baby girl, and she is nursing. Doing this, has been proven to stop milk ducts, from becoming blocked and infected, especially while you're still pregnant, and not able to nurse or pump!
      Hope you're feeling better now, your fever has subsided, and you're no longer in pain!

    These are old vids but I’m 30 weeks now and love following along to compare and contrast. I never knew you could get mastitis during pregnancy🥺

    • @NatalieBennett
      @NatalieBennett  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's VERY rare in a first time pregnancy because the milk ducts have never functioned in that capacity before. But in subsequent pregnancies the chances of it get a little higher even though it's still rare. Thanks for watching!

    Tip in terms of Mastitis: A friend of mine had a baby boy in July and was faced with Mastitis quite a bit. She did "Quark-Wickel" - which basically means putting compresses with German Quark on the affected parts. So, if you can get hold of this - it really helps! Get well soon! xoxo

    Lecithin capsules can help with plugged ducts and/or mastitis. It basically makes the milk "slipperier" so it doesn't clog as easily.

    I had mastitis 3x when I was breastfeeding my daughter and it was the most pain I had ever been in. It topped my c-section recovery by far. I am sending you lots of well wishes and prayers for speedy healing. I had no idea this could happen during pregnancy when you're not nursing. I'll definitely be on the lookout when I have our next one. Yikes!

    Bless your heart! I had this twice after having my son. It was horrible! I stopped breastfeeding after the second time. Warm compress and expressing the milk in the shower helps.

    Natalie I not currently pregnant yet but do appreciate how details you are in your updates as it is good information for women to know. I have done a lot of reading myself to prepare but their is certainly new information that I hadn't learned yet and am glad I am getting chance to do so I am in the know better. Thank you so much for being willing to share and prayers sent for a speedy recovery from this latest flare up and continued safety for you and Baby Girl. Praying she can cook as long as is needed for her to be able to thrive safely outside the womb.

    Mastitis is horrible! I breastfed my son exclusively until 6 months and ended up having to put him on formula because I constantly had mastitis, blocked ducts and bleeding nipples, it was horrible! My goal was 6 months and I'm so proud I made it! Feel so sorry for you having to go through it!! So horrible! I hope like you say by next week it's cleared up! Your in my prayers! xx

    Oh man! I had no clue that was possible! I have been so blessed to have never experienced mastitis but I had a bad clogged duct last week and it was so so painful. How strange! Essential oils really help me too! I'm not sure about safety during pregnancy but I found germanium, melrose and lavender mixed with water and used as cold compresses and also frankincense to be super helpful. Hope you feel better soon! It's so hard to do all the Mama duties and rest when you feel so terrible! Hang in there!

    Mastitis is awful! I've had it while nursing both my girls so far. The thing that helped me beside antibiotics was taking raw garlic. I felt it coming on a second time and took raw garlic a clove at a time and it cut it before it got too bad! I hope you are feeling better!

    Lansinoh 3 in 1 breast therapy, saved me a lot of misery. Can be heated, refridgerated, or frozen depending on intended use. Great for mastitis and clogged ducts. Also helps let down when you do start pumping after birth. Lastly, it can help swelling and engorgement. Are you allowed to hand express?

    I had a blocked duct when I was breastfeeding and I couldn't even lift my arm! I was so painful. I got a cup of hot water and some epsom salt and placed my areola area in and it drew out enough for me to start to get some relief. It's honestly interesting to watch the water cloud with milk 😆 breastfeeding and women's bodies are so fascinating!

    Wow Natalie, I’m so glad you made a video on this. I’m 34 weeks pregnant and noticed stuff coming out of my left nipple and I squeezed it and some blood also came out. I’m thinking I might have some kind of infection also. I was so freaked out because this is my first pregnancy and I had no idea this could happen or how. I’ll be calling my midwife but have no idea what to expect and I really don’t want to be on antibiotics... ☹️

I had no clue that could be possible. I’m now on antibiotics. This is just painful 😓

    You shouldn't have to give a disclaimer that you're talking about breastfeeding/milk. It's natural and this is a pregnancy video. Stop sexualizing it, NORMALIZE IT.

    • @NatalieBennett
      @NatalieBennett  7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Ashleigh Gulden I didn't make a disclaimer based in the fact that I (or anyone else) saw it as anything sexual, my disclaimer was to warn those who are squeamish about bodily fluids and hearing about painful medical conditions.
