can you imagine if rogan tried to do this? it would be 12 hours but 11 and a half of them would be him plugging weird products that he says will fix all jims problems but at the same time pretends that he doesnt also own the company
Started off kind of a dick though. It was hard to hear. Maybe that was just coming in with most perspectives though. I just finished 3 mics and was really confused
Jim may be the most complicated and also simple guy I have ever seen, if that makes any sense. Theres a lot to sort with him but his honesty is pretty refreshing and endearing. Always been a fan of Jims and rooting for him in all aspects of his life. He really has a niche perspective that probably needs to be heard now more than ever. And I truly appreciate his not preaching or being the over-the-top advocate and condemning others differing opinions.
Norton thinks if you’re not marching in the gay pride parade, or if you don’t want a school teacher encouraging your second grader to be gay, then you must hate gays.
Just guna say admit it...jim nortin helped me reveal to myself that i have addictions, it doesnt make me a horrible person, and that theres something i can do about it. I love this dude so much
I've listened to Jim Norton tell these stories for 25 years but for some reason I really enjoyed this conversation and feel like I learned more about Jim then ever before...
This is the darkest, most candid, and deeply honest conversation, and from my perspective, probably therefore the most honest Neal has been. To me, Jim’s vulnerability and his direct, hard-earned acceptance of himself while making space for the possibility he doesn’t have everything figured out, allowed Neal to be honest in a real way which he hasn’t fully allowed or been able to show to his audience before - which is completely understandable. It’s just something about the lack of facade and veneer of it. This was - again, to me - the most human episode yet. I think so far, of the conversations we’ve been allowed to see in this venture, this was maybe the goal the whole time. And while Neal has obviously done an enormous amount of work trying to accept himself, that Jim’s wisdom and lived experience of dealing with life, and very importantly - his vulnerability - around this, communicating it through his chosen mediums - this feels to me like the walls came further down than had happened before. And I am really grateful for the vulnerability and honesty of these men. I guess I’m saying thank you for what feels like the first episode of Blocks. 🙏🙏🙏❤️ I hope that doesn’t come off as anything other than grateful 😅
I caught myself thinking "I wish I could go on this pod so I could discuss the state of my mental health" and quickly realized I probably just need to go to therapy.
One of the greatest stand ups who has ever lived. Jim’s work at the cellar/comedy specials during the 2000s along with Opie and Anthony, is enough for any comic to die with. He’s still going!
I watched 3 hours of Katt williams conspiracy theory marathon on Joe Rogen today and was really disappointed so thank you for an actual intetesting, deep and honest conversation not about alien egyptians. Love you guys
i stopped watching within the first 5 mins of that joe/katt episode...it had the same vibes as when he was talking to The Rock....fake smiles, fake responses. yuck.
@gal9736 @sicZ32 saaame. Rogan/katt thing felt like a dare. Like, 'I challenge you to find redeeming value, anywhere in this 3 hr pseudo esoteric circlejerk'. Both have good qualities, but that was f#@kin' gag me
This was fucking wonderful to listen to. I’ve been aware of Jim Norton for a long time, but had no idea how unique and fascinating of a person that he is.
Jim Norton needs to do more talks and conversations about this. This is a dialouge that needs to be done and spread. FASCINATING AND INTERESTING CONVERSATION
Jim's "It's just a matter of being truthful without saying the outcome has to be this" is exactly what the far left and far right need to learn about how the real world and fairness work.
Neal's questions are truly exceptional. They enhance and move the conversation forward in a natural way while showing the ultimate respect towards his guests. Really impressive stuff
Love this episode. Norton has been one of, if not my favorite comedian for years. Neal should get Bobby Kelly to do this too, he'd be perfect for this podcast.
He’s definitely a good guy…. Great heart…. Great to his coworkers… Family… It seems like he is just a upstanding guy all around I can say from my point, and I’ve met him a couple of times. He is a great great guy to his fans, genuine and sweet and gives people time and talk to them. He’s just a really, really good dude.♥️♥️
I’ve been listening and seeing Jimmy since probably 99… And he’s always been so fucking super honest and never sugarcoated shit he’s amazing… Love him♥️♥️♥️ this interview is fucking fantastic!!!!… ♥️♥️♥️
thank you for putting a time to click on that part and you couldn't have described it any better. When Jimmy said "For me I mean there's no way to consider myself straight I never have like you know so many guys will say like they misread it and they'll go you're with uh my wife's name is Nicki you're with her and you think that uh like he says he's not gay he's delusional but I'm not if I was gay I'd tell you I'm gay I don't give a shht. I'm 55 years old I'm not nervous to say it um but I like vaginas too um so it has to be bisexual it has to be I mean I don't like all the new terms I'm sure some of them are legit I just am old and don't understand them but I also think a lot of them are hey this sounds unique and we all have chronic uniqueness I had it growing up and if I was 15 I'm sure I would have had a bunch of different labels for myself so it's for me it's hard to determine what's legit what is attention seeking what is a phase." I'm a 32 year old man and I don't love when he said I'd tell you if I was. I don't walk around saying what my sexual prowess is but if you ask I'll give you an honest answer. It's really nice not living a lie of who you are but you don't need to go around shouting it. The blessing is accepting yourself and be honest with the fact you don't know why you like the things you like. anyway thanks dp
This conversation is so refreshing. Let anybody do what they enjoy. Without having to be a part of some kind of community. With strict stalinistic rules. I don't understand why heterosexual women get so upset about trans women.
@@dpclerks09 Thanks! I've come a long way in the past couple of years. Will never not be refreshing to hear people distill subjects like this into such a digestible state though ❤️🥳
What am amazing interview/podcast. I'm a random comedy loving mid-40's guy living in the South of Ireland... and I've 15 and 8 year old boys .... and you'd be surprised the issues that are being touched on are very much relevant or "in the ether"... my younger son had a playdate with a girl who clearly identifies as boy. And no one can talk about it. it's sad but it'll take time. Ireland has become an unbelievably progressive place to live in recent years. Compared to what it was. 👍
Great questions Neal. Questions not to be funny, but can be funny and of course Jimmy who will spill his guts no matter the subject of question. This was very, very good guys. Love Jim Norton!!!!

One thing by listening to these 2 comedians. They are both very intelligent. The conversation between these 2 was very educational if do have addictions.

Living for Thursdays lately and this Ep is no exception. This pod is really special, Neal! Jim is the best kind of radically authentic and self-aware dude and fucking hilarious.
Finally, Jimmy Norton. Was expecting this episode to be a 12 hour three-parter.

Jimmy is the greatest!!!!
It would've been better if Neal knew anything about Jim Norton other than what we googled before the podcast.
Same!
Jim’s been a role model to all us addicted and abused pervs with hearts of gold for 20 years now. Thanks, hero.

The analogy of the hole in the cup giving the illusion that just a little more will fill it was very powerful imagery to describe addiction.
Always filling the cup, this thought is brilliant. ❤
a kid who stops drinking at 13 is not an addict. the cup metaphor is a tired old AA adage. anybody can repeat it regardless of actual experience.
This is as much therapy from an honest place I would ever hear in a lifetime.
The best therapy is talking to other like-minded friends. The doctors can never usually relate, or give us beneficial advice.
