Plz clarify, the update done on phone number via heroku app is updating the postgres database record, which syncs regularly with Salesforce to update data in Salesforce. The app is not directly updating Salesforce data right? The explanation cud have been more towards, when and where data updates happening and how. Thanks

I cannot understand how the app was able to update the contact. I understand you used email, but there was no part of the video that said how email will make the match inside of salesforce.

Hi Victor! I used a demo edition tier plan for Heroku connect(for this demo) in which the polling frequency (to poll/retreive any changes from my salesforce org) by default is 10mins. In other plans/tiers the polling rate/frequency may vary and can be minimized to a few mins. For bulk updates you can use the accelerated polling option which leverages Streaming API and synchronizes data to your external system in near-real time. For other cloud platforms you can go ahead and explore the heroku market place for other connectors(Check the Data store utilities section). But considering about the limits and pricing, if your consumer app is hosted on the heroku platform and has to consume/retrieve data from an external system, its better and preferrable to write custom API's so your app can consume the exposed API/end point from the external system/platform and leverage the data. I hope this answers your question!! :)

Heroku seems great now that I have seen your demo, I was wondering if something equivalent to Heroku Connect was available with other Database manager (like BigQuery/Redshift/Azure).
