    Great thermal demo. I purchased the little wrist mount altimeter/ vario and mounted it to the instrument pod on the ATF. I ran ear plug/ speakers so I can hear the vario over the engine. I will message you a picture.

      Thanks. It should have been the best thermaling day of the year, but it rained 1.7" the day before and the airstrip didn't dry out enough to use until late-afternoon. Thermals were still everywhere, just not going up very fast. You should be able to hear the vario pretty good with the speakers in the helmet. I have two different helmets for flying. The one with the lightning bolt doesn't have much sound deadening, allowing me to hear external sounds pretty well. My other helmet is setup with Bluetooth for use with a cell phone and has so much soundproofing I can't hear someone talking right next to me.

      FYI, you had asked previously about the 360 camera mount, here you can see the GoPro Max Tripod/Selfiestick sleeved into the keel stinger tube.

    Great flight, beautiful view. I was wondering how were you able to display your AGL on display? Thank you.

      On this video, a Garmin VIRB camera was used which has built-in GPS that creates a FIT format file. Using Garmin's VirbEdit software, the GPS data can be overlaid onto the video. In other videos, I use RaceRender or TelemetryOverlay editing software which can import data in various formats for overlay.

    Mike, great flight, but just wondering why you don't retract the landing gear? I have a Dragonfly trike and retracting the gear definitely improves the performance.

      I'm just too lazy to do it, I guess, and am one of those people who would forget to put them back down before landing (that would be another good video, though). It isn't difficult to do and only takes a few seconds. I have the larger wheels (with fenders) and if the under seat storage has anything in it, it is a tight squeeze to push the wheels up behind it. The no-tools eazy-fold gear is fantastic for transport.

    Congratulations!!; wonderful flight! Please, could you tell me how can I buy this ANT-E? I see you flying for almost 5 years from now, and I couldn´t find the way to see one of these in person! Are them in USA or only un Ukraine? Thank you for your help Mike

      Please see the list of Aeros dealers at aeros.com.ua . If your country is not listed, contact Aeros directly and they can advise you. I know there are electric powered ANTs in Germany, France, USA, Japan, Australia, and Phillipines. Gas powered ANTs are all over the globe.

    Hi Mike; impressive flights! Could aeros's fairing improve your sink rate?

    • @mikedillonhaswings
      @mikedillonhaswings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly, I can't say for sure, I have not flown with it. It does look pretty cool. I don't even bother to retract the wheels in flight.

      yes , I saw your answer about your retractable undercarriage. Your skill is enough to make the job! @@mikedillonhaswings

      you have obviously made a great job to optimize your aircraft. Please let me know the pros and cons of some of your choices: HPD16 engine (vs 20), 16° radius propeller (vs 13), high capacity batteries (vs high power). Best wishes.

      Below 16kw power draw (such as level flight at 5-6KW), the performance and battery drain of the HPD16 and HPD20 motors will be similar. The HPD20 can run continuous at 20Kw with peak of 30Kw for one minute while the HPD16 can only run continuous at 16Kw with a peak of 20Kw. The HPD20 can also run a nominal upper RPM of 2700 vs 2280 RPM on the HPD16. Thus the only advantage of the HPD20 over the HPD16 on the ANT trike is a higher climb rate of about 900fpm (4.5mps) vs 400fpm (2mps), dependant on weight, wing model/size etc. Above 16kw, the HPD20 will consume battery capacity rapidly, reducing flight time under power. The 16° prop works well with the HPD16 on the ANT. I believe the 13° pitch prop might be more appropriate for paramotor applications for a slower airspeed at the same RPM. A heavier-duty prop is needed with the HPD20 motor, and is available in both fixed and folding versions.
