The moment Snidely Whiplash is heard talking in the film-within-the-film, I could imagine such being cut, to be followed with "This is the Dominion Network of the Canadian Broadcorping Castration," followed, after a short pause, by the old "O Canada."
The brilliance of the Dudley shorts is the old-style silent movie house ting-a-ling piano accompaniment. How many voices does the great Paul Frees do? And this is a great take-off on "Singing in the Rain!"
Originally seen on "THE BULLWINKLE SHOW" in 1963. William Conrad is the narrator; featured voices are Bill Scott, Paul Frees, Hans Conried, and June Foray. One of the funniest of the series! Closing credits are an amalgam of Jay Ward's and Total Television/Leonardo's production crew and voice talent (the "Dudley Do-Right" episodes were produced at Ward's Hollywood studio instead of the "Gamma" unit).
Can you believe that Snidely Whiplash had a short-flight acting career? It's just like an adult who was a former child actor/actress who has early life fame and later life tragedy taking place. When 1928 came, our ancestors started developing pictures with sound.
Interestingly enough, I hear that perennial movie villain Basil Rathbone (when he wasn't the perennial Sherlock Holmes) started out in Hollywood as a romantic lead himself. 😲 😎
😀Well at least the character Dudley Do-right is always wanted in Canada eh? For what we don't know. What we do know for sure is how everyone loves to hate the cartoon charcter inspector Fenway same as they love to hate the cartoon character Snidley Whiplash too. What would have been a nice added touch is if they had added a judgy judge cartoon character getting funds from bail money too.
This doesn't have to do with the cartoon itself, but does anyone know who the voice over announcer for the local station might be? He sounds exactly like the local announcer for WOIO TV in Cleveland, OH.
"There will be no skulking in these woods, sir!" As I get older, i appreciate more and more the satire of these cartoons. Terrific stuff!
Dudley do-right my hero

William Conrad
I know William Conrad was the narrator of the cartoon -- who I was referring to was the announcer over the end credits promoting an upcoming show.
@@dougclark7077 Ah, okay.
That's 'Snidely'.
