  • Living in Jefferson, Georgia comes with many pros... and a few cons. This charming small town has great schools, low housing costs, and very little traffic. However, you might have to drive to another town to eat at your favorite chain restaurant.

I love the idea of ONE this and the other because it creates a sense of community when people shop at the same place.

I live in J-Town, and this is pretty accurate. I half-jokingly tell people we live 30 minutes from everywhere. Wanna go to the mall? 30 minutes or less to Mall of Georgia. Wanna go to the outlet malls in Commerce? 30 minutes or less. Want to go to Athens for any restaurants, bars, etc? 30 minutes or less. We don't have a lot IN Jefferson really, but we are relatively close to almost anything that you would want.

Man I love my little town, my wife and I bought our first home in Jefferson 4 years ago from Gainesville Georgia and to be honest we never heard of Jefferson before even though we had been living here almost 7 years in Gainesville but we took a leap of faith and my goodness God was definitely Watching Over Us on that decision and on top of that she's going to one of the best high schools in all of georgia! I love this little place I don't think I'll ever leave and on top of that it's booming so our property has already skyrocketed in value, this is where you want to be when the world goes crazy, we don't play along with all of that outside stuff y'all can have that LOL

Atlanta and over-development have destroyed every surrounding town... I never thought it would reach Jefferson but sadly it has. I feel like a stranger in my own home state :(

And it's not going to stop there. The I-85 expansion project goes all the way to Commerce. By the time you get there you are only 30 miles from South Carolina. Think about that.

@@dvferyance It's sad :/ it kills community and charm, and worst of all it kills beauty. Georgia used to be a breathtaking state, now it's covered in concrete

@@ashtonlambert7673 I am sure there is still more to Georgia than the Atlanta area. But I am sure this was the same case back in the 60's and 70's when the Chicago are grew out.

Honestly, why are they adding so many new homes. One neighborhood in Jefferson I swear gets 6 houses per day

i make the drive to Athens through 85 North/Pendergrass/Arcade/Jefferson at least once a month for years and am shocked the schools are rated so well. I must not be going through the good part of town.

Update. There's now traffic in Jefferson.

    • @MovingtoGeorgia
      @MovingtoGeorgia  ปีที่แล้ว

Lol, isn't it becoming a problem everywhere? And it's all relative. What we consider traffic is someone else's walk in the park. Thanks for watching!

. The exact thing I thought the moment she started talking, Brandon. Traffic sucks here now. If you catch one of these warehouses letting workers going home at a certain time like 4 or 5 o'clock you can spend 15-25 minutes just trying to get to the highway.
She is so wrong about some aspects -- what she speaks of ended in about 2014 -- that is, that quaintness, low traffic, etc... I've been here 23 years and now want to move further out -- too many folks here now.
Regarding homes, they doubled in price in the last 7-8 years. And, homes being built here are now being built really close together and apartments complexes are popping up -- yuck !!! Jackson County is getting ruined just like Gwinnett. So, so lame.
      .

Jefferson is closer to being part the Athens “metro” area than being part of the Atlanta metro area.
Not only that; it’s not even in any of the counties that make up the metro Atlanta area.

I would agree with this and yet many of the families I help often consider Jefferson. Thanks for watching!

I beleive Jackson County now is included in the Atlanta CSA. It's probably something very recent though.

I am seriously considering Jefferson. We found a new dev in Jefferson that offers an AMAZING location, great land, and a great house for a low price. I wanna go and see the place but we live in FL and driving 11 hrs with 2 dogs to go for a few days is hard. I've read a lot of great reviews of Jefferson, but some not so good, so I'm concerned. That said, I'm mostly swaying toward Jefferson. Any help from anyone would be amazing!
