Thanks to Roger Rabbit, every time I see a cartoon like The Owl House, SpongeBob Squarepants, Pokémon, I see them as actual cartoon characters, on a set, and after the show is done, they show how they actually like
I wish it was like Roger Rabbit and Looney Tunes: Back in Action in real-life. I can also see the Animaniacs, the DC Animated Universe and so much much more actually go through this sort of thing.

As a cartoon, I can safely say this is how they make animated films but for shorts and others they just draw us on a computer or a paper, add the background and it just plays out from there

Overlooking the 'toon' aspect, the premise isn't as ridiculous as it sounds. The film's plot is loosely based on the General Motors streetcar conspiracy. During the time the movie took place, GM was buying up streetcar systems in many US citys, only to replace them with buses.

Jesus, I've never seen a cartoon character stay in the oven that long and until the oven says "Well done" just because he's a toon! During the first time I seen this movie and didn't yet learn too much about cartoons, I actually thought he's going to die until, after a LONG time, he finally came out! And to add to this, no water touched him to put out the fire on his overalls (though instead, the fire disappeared eventually).

In answer to your question about the Science lab, maybe Baby Herman's dad works there and he was going to put Roger to sleep and dissect him but, the mom stopped the dad knowing and feeling that Baby Herman will love to have a rabbit as a babysitter.

He was cast as some sort of internal prank because he and then Disney CEO Michael Eisner didn't get along when they worked at Paramount. When the movie was premiered and Eisner saw his old enemy on the screen, only said: "He did a very good job".
You know what would be a cool movie for Disney to do? Making a film that features live-action, hand-drawn, and computer animated characters in a storyline that fictionalizes the conflict between traditional and computer animation? You could have the main character be a kid whose grandparent is a retired cartoonist, and a parent who work with computer animation, and he/she gets caught between the computer animated characters who are relishing their popularity, and the toons who are getting pushed out. It would be a great way to explore the two styles of animation, pay homage to traditional animators, and give everyone a good old dose of nostalgia. Don't you think?

This movie is another of those cases where it feels different watching it after reading the book. The book was a whole different experience I tell you what.
Fact: Who Framed Roger Rabbit was composed by Alan Silvestri who also did the music on Back To The Future film series, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Stuart Little, Lilo & Stitch, The Wild, The Polar Express, A Christmas Carol (2009), Ready Player One, even several The Avengers films and even The Mummy Returns.
Love how Baby Herman’s attitude is not “Sorry director I did something wrong” it’s more like “I was doing fine! Get that monkey out of your ass, director!” Also he sounds like Krusty the Clown 😂
I really do care for how Roger wanted to get the job done correctly. He's really got heart in this scene. Living in a world aka society where people carry on as though they weren't born with one in the first dang place. Kinda reminds me of Jesus Christ I must say.

The animation here is a million times more fluid than anything Japan ever made, apart from maybe Akira. Seriously, this is why Western Animation, properly done, is the best.
I know this comment is 2 years old, but im gonna answer anyway. The two ovens thing could be based on the fact that some people have multiple of the same kitchen appliances, like fridges, microwaves, ovens etc. as for Roger getting electrocuted despite wearing gloves, he has fabric gloves on, not rubber gloves which makes him vulnerable to being electrocuted, as compared to rubber gloves, fabric ones weren't designed to protect the user from electrocution.
You gotta think, this is the forties. This is before CGI, and the closest thing to editing they had was adding sounds and chopping frames off and glueing them back together by hand. Sorry if I’m being rude, I’m just answering the question.
Perhaps they could have just ANIMATED some stars frame by frame, but that is obviously a long and tedious process. Imagine if there were no toons and entire cartoons had to be made that way!

We all got lines/scenes from this movie memorized from childhood. Mine's the hilarious one they couldn't exactly censor for kids 🤣 Later in the movie: (something close)Baby Herman: "I'm a 30 year old stuck in a 2 year old's dinkie. 😒"
What I dislike about these kinds of shorts is how they always leave out important details. This is from the opening short of Who Framed Roger Rabbit called "something's cookin" and from what I can find the chili bottle was animated by Brent Odell whose task on the film was animating lots of prop scenes.

The animation here is a million times more fluid than anything Japan ever made, apart from maybe Akira. Seriously, this is why Western Animation, properly done, is the best.

It seems to me that Roger has trouble with knowledge of what stars are and what stars look and shape like.
The difference between the animation of this cartoon and the animation in the Toontown sequence is somewhat jarring.

Anybody noticed that they have 2 ovens? And how can Roger get schoked when he has rubber gloves on?
I know this comment is 2 years old, but im gonna answer anyway. The two ovens thing could be based on the fact that some people have multiple of the same kitchen appliances, like fridges, microwaves, ovens etc. as for Roger getting electrocuted despite wearing gloves, he has fabric gloves on, not rubber gloves which makes him vulnerable to being electrocuted, as compared to rubber gloves, fabric ones weren't designed to protect the user from electrocution.

You gotta think, this is the forties. This is before CGI, and the closest thing to editing they had was adding sounds and chopping frames off and glueing them back together by hand. Sorry if I’m being rude, I’m just answering the question.
Perhaps they could have just ANIMATED some stars frame by frame, but that is obviously a long and tedious process. Imagine if there were no toons and entire cartoons had to be made that way!

What I dislike about these kinds of shorts is how they always leave out important details. This is from the opening short of Who Framed Roger Rabbit called "something's cookin" and from what I can find the chili bottle was animated by Brent Odell whose task on the film was animating lots of prop scenes.
