  • Liberty Station near downtown San Diego is one of our favorite places to visit. What was once a Naval Training Center has now turned into a thriving neighborhood go-to with tons of history, culture, and tons of amazing food. Besides all that, it’s also a local spot for San Diegan to bring their kayaks, paddleboards, and other paddle crafts. The water channel that runs between Liberty Station and the San Diego Airport is mostly calm and quite beautiful. And if you love watching airplanes, you could see airplanes taking off from the airport as you paddle along. It was a very novel experience to kayak at Liberty Station.

You are doing SD-area paddlers a great service with your high quality videos. Your commentary is also clear and informative. For a lesser known gem, check out Chula Vista Bayfront Park. There's a boat ramp and lots of parking. In the morning before wind picks up, you can paddle across to Coronado and explore the canals of Coronado Cays. In the alternative, if you paddle south, the water becomes too shallow for boat traffic so you'll have much of the area to yourself. Happy paddling and keep up the great content.

Thanks for this great video! I'm new to kayaking and I'm looking for places like this to enjoy the sport. My biggest obstacle right now is that I'm all the way up in Los Angeles! San Diego looks so nice..

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. We haven't been there yet, but we have heard that the Long Beach harbor is pretty cool. There is an app called Go Paddling that can show you cool spots too. 😎
