    Wish I had viewed this last week. just paid the dealer for my tank lift kit and it did not ship with the deflectors. After the video called DK customs and they will have a set out to me here in NC next week. I will not try and put on my self. bending over and the issue with that bolt would be too much. your videos help a great deal. thank you again. great job.

    Hi Ed .... watched your video on tank lift kit for the Tri Glides. I know yours is a 2020 and you made comment bout front right side being a bit tough. Well the 2021 that I have the right side was a son of gun. All the wires and cables are travel that side. I to took bolts from rear of tank and slid it back but then when tighted it down had to unfasten a cradle/plastic protector just to get a wrench in there to tighten it down. Right side was a piece a cake ! Did install rear tank spacers. Haven't made decision on the Cool Wings ......
    Ride safe....

      I hear you that right side one was horrible. I think I got a small wrench on it and turned it 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch at a time and I had to re-grip it.
      I have to take my tank off here in the future, and I will make sure that it does not move because it was so hard to put on.

      @@kennywisemansr.2323 I bought some intimidators from DK customs for the front forks. I think I am going to pull the forks and take them to the shop and have them replace them because of the springs are under pressure and I am not willing to mess around with them. I have in the past another bike but I just don’t wanna do it anymore. The tank is easy enough to take off. And don’t have to, but I am going to do it anyway.

    Lifted mine 21 Triglide and it affected gas gauge measurement and computer for miles left. Said I had 1 gallon left and actually had two. Returned it ti original setup.

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is exactly what happened to me. Or something like that. I put the 1 inch tank lift kit on from DK custom. Then I put two spacers in the rear of the tank 1 inch. That leveled my tank out again. And my gas gauge was back to normal.

      So, I too wanted to do both the Harley Davidson cool fan and Jim’s force fan. I thought that I might over load the battery. Have you had any issues. Also, I know you put in the Jim’s fan, did you put in the Halrey Fan or have it done at dealership?
      Thanks

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ I had the dealership put in the Harley Davidson fan, and I myself installed the jims force flow fan with the help of a friend. But on my 2020 model at that time, they did not make a Jim’s force flow fan that fit my bike. I had to cut the thermostat out of the circuit and and do a little bit of wiring modification. But the hardware fit fine. In other words, the hardware on Jim’s force flow fan fit fine. I just couldn’t install the thermostat in the spot where they wanted me to. I did not even want the thermostat. I wanted to be able to turn it on and off whenever I wanted to. And that’s the way it’s set up now.

      @@scott2228 stock yes the bike would run hot in 90° of and above
      I put the cooling wing deflectors on, the tank lift kit, the Harley Davidson, cool flow fan, and the Jim force flow fan. All the above, cooled the bike down in those temperatures where I don’t feel the heat anymore. Now, which one did the best, for sure is Jim’s force flow fan. If I didn’t do anything else, that’s what I would do first. Tremendously did great and bring the cylinder head temperature down enough to where it was tolerable. I did a film/video on Jim force fan.

    many thanks for the video and commentary. very helpful. does the lift kit keep the tank in the same alignment so the gas gauge is not affected; it continues to read accurately?

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. It throws the gas gauge off considerably. I got the deluxe kit which came with a 1/2 inch spacers for the rear of the tank. I ended up buying the 1 inch lift kit and went down to the local hardware store and got me some 1 inch spacers which leveled the tank which brought the gas gauge back to normal. I also put some felt on the tank where the seat meets the tank to prevent the seat from rubbing the paint on the tank

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Dave. A little difficult getting things cinched down in the front. It will throw your gas gauge out of whack though. Instead of your fuel light coming on with 1 gallon left it will come on at 1.5 gallons. I ended up putting a 1 inch lift kit in the front and 1 inch spacers in the back to keep the tank level and the fuel gauge reads property now. I put some light Felt Pads around the front where the seat touches the tank so it wouldn’t bur it up paint . It works great I do like the tank left kit with the wings

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not notice a big difference using the tank lift kit. But there was more air flow going under the tank onto the cylinder heads. I did several other things to help cool the engine down. Jim's Force flow fan, Harley Davidsons cool flow fan, and the cooling deflector wings from DK customs. Jim's force flow fan was a major component cooling the engine down a minimum of 30 degrees in 105 degree weather. I did a video on it showing the exact numbers live.

    I'd like to know, Right after you installed the wing deflectors, Did it cut down that upward air flow that comes up from between the tank and the lower fairing? You know that area where it comes up and blasts ya in the face area??

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most definitely the flow of air was stopped. Before you could put your hand in that area and feel the flow. After install, that airflow ceased.

    Hey Ed....did you install your tank lift kit before you replaced your factory handle bars ? Debating whether to go with the 1" or 1 1/2" lift. Mine will be close because of the clutch cable. Didn't know if your trike twenty is hyd or clutch cable. Thanks...

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a hydraulic clutch. Mine is a 2020 triglide. I’ll put my tank lift kit on before I install the handlebars. I installed a 1 1/2 inch lift kit deluxe. With the spacer in the back. I did not like it because it caused my gas gauge not to read exactly like it did before I installed the 1 1/2 inch lift kit. I took the 1 1/2 inch lift kit off and replaced it with a 1 inch lift kit with a 1 inch spacer in the back, which brought my gas tank gauge in line with what it was OEM.

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess I’m just too particular a person could easily live with the 1 1/2 inch lift kit with the gas gauge being off slightly meaning that your gas light will come on earlier. With OEM it came on with 1 gallon left. Exactly with the one and 1/2 inch lift kit. The gas light came on with 1.4 gallons left.

      Tri glides have been noted to get very hot. Mine is a 2020 Triglide. my first summer my right leg got so hot I could not keep my foot on the footboard. The tank lift kit and the cool deflector wings are supposed to cool the engine down around 7 to 15°. I just put out a video on Jim’s forceflow fan to cool the engine down also

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I say hot I mean it starts around 82° degrees ambient temperature and when the temperature starts to escalate that’s when your right leg begins to feel the hotness

    What size tank lift did you end up with and why? Does the harley cool flow fan make a big difference?

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the 1 1/2 inch lift kit. With the deluxe kit which raises the rear of the tank 1/2 inch. I have Dakota digital gauges and without the lift kit when the low fuel light came on I had exactly 1 gallon of gas left. After I put the lift kit on and the gas light came on, I had 1.7 gallons left. That is because the fuel tank was not level and all the gas was going to the rear of the tank. I did not like that. So I replaced the 1 1/2 inch lift kit with a 1 inch lift kit. I made My own deluxe 1 inch lift kit for the rear of the tank. So now the tank is back to being level again and when the fuel light comes on, I have exactly 1 gallon of fuel left. That is what I wanted. Different strokes for different folks. And yes the air flows under the tank very well.
      The Harley cool flow fan does make a big difference in keeping the heat off your leg. When using it in stop and go traffic it does not seem to cool the engine down any, but yes it takes the heat from the engine, blows it down on the exhaust pipe away from your leg and the passengers leg. I have used it in 85° weather and it works well. I have not experimented with it above 85°.

      This January since I installed the lift kit and cool deflector wings I have been riding 8 times in 26° - 38° weather. First thing I noticed was a massive amount of cold air flowing on my legs now. It was impressive. Even though I was wearing heat I could still feel that cold air. Head temperature was running around 245° to 255°depending upon how fast I was going. So I know there is a lot more air circulating around the engine for sure. Won’t know till the weather gets hotter and I check the head temperatures as I ride. But it looks like it is working.

      @@strohdog242 You are probably right. The H-D cool flow fan works great for keeping the heat off your legs. The jims force flow fan cools the engine down about 25 degrees. As I was riding in 84° weather the head temperature was 289 degrees and it knocked it down to 264 degrees. And as for the tank lift kit and the cool deflectors seems to add a bit of coolness also.
