My Hla65 motor died after less than 6 month of pro use. I love how light it is, it cut well and battery life was amazing with ap300s. My shop said it's covered under warranty but they are slow to repair the battery stuff in the USA.
Versatile machine , gives great control and real sharp edges. No choking on fumes, no numb fingers and maybe it's my stature, but I find it gives a really good controlled operating position.
Just came upon your site when searching for a comparison between the HLA 65 and 66. I saw the one you did on the HLA 66 and was impressed with your depth of product knowledge and straightforward presentation coupled with humor (That's what she said). Excellent presentations!
Such fantastic kit! It is really highlighted if you pick up a petrol machine after using battery machine for a week. Looking forward to the future videos with the kit 😀
I can’t believe I have around 800m of hedges around my house that I have to trim up every second weekend and constantly complain to my partner about (she picked the house ), and in my spare time I’m watching hedge trimming videos on you tube 😂. Great site and have subscribed and watched nearly all your videos. Well done from down under. PS...does sound different when you say “Shtil” PPS...I have 4 different size sthil battery hedges including this one, and they are bloody fantastic !
😀 Thank you for subscribing and for the kind comment. It sounds like you have got your hands full, keeping those hedges trimmed. The battery hedgers really are fantastic bits of kit 😀
Great video mate. Fully agree about technique too and if Stihl could put the HSA94T motor and blades in this it would be absolutely blooming marvellous. Nice work matey 👍🏻
😀 Hello chap, Always an honour when a legend leaves a comment 😀 The 94t on a stick would be AWESOME! Let’s keep our fingers crossed. Hope all is good with you 👍🏻
Great vid and great tool. I find the black spring collar on mine sticks a bit when adjusting the blade angle which is annoying but other than that it's a cracking hedge cutter. I go for the AP200 battery myself, you're obviously more of a man than me 😉👍
@@TheFullyChargedGardener in some countries there is a bigger price difference between the 200 and 300 . In such cases the 200 may be better value.( Where 3 200's cost the same as 2 300's )
Jack D Then buy 3 Ap200 batteries then 😀 It is all down to personal choice - What is fantastic is the fact Stihl provides a wide selection of batteries to fit people’s needs with regards to weight & runtime 😀
I have tried pretty much the entire range of Husky battery kit. I have also tried a large selection of Ego kit. I have been using Stihl kit for years - We have a great local dealer, so when we made the switch to battery, it was the logical choice. We are extremely pleased with the machines. Hope this answers your question 😀
Hi pal. Questions on the backpack battery. How heavy and long does it take to charge up? Have you used it much whilst on ladder work? Nice video with quality workmanship
Hello chap, the battery I was using in this video is a BEAST!! Weighs in at about 11kg with the harness. (It is the same battery that powers the 765v mower) Charge time of the backpack battery takes a few hours with the fast charger. But it would probably run that hedge trimmer for a week without the need for charging. (I don’t use a backpack battery with this machine, it was just to show it can be done) Ladder work with the backpack battery... probably not the best idea - I think that is the best way to put it. Stihl do have much lighter backpack batteries in their range. Hope I answered everything? 😀
Love your videos dude.. Well done and nice review.. I wish you could do a set of reviews for a typical home owner like me.. I have the HLA56 and honestly it cuts like a dream! I would like to get a conventional style hedge trimmer for smaller shrubs and was thinking of the HS56 or 46 because they're light and have a good blade speed.. What do you think? Petrol or Battery? Thanks for the technical assistance also.. I find the slow and steady way you cut hedges very very therapeutically satisfying 😁😎🙏🏽
I have just bought one. Hedge cutting is new to me. Our new property has a large surrounding hedge. It is very dense , just like the one in your video. Do you put tarpaulin down to catch the trimmings? Or do you just rake up afterwards! Kind regards, Paul PS: edited to say, how often do you sharpen your blades? I'm guessing when the blades start chomping rather than chopping!!
Paul, a tarp can be a great time saver in the right situation where there is enough open space without adjacent pants (read as prize roses, etc.). If there are too many competing plants that could be damaged, raking is the only option.

great review as always mate. I love the HLA65 it's my go-to hedge cutter.
😀 Cheers chap. It really is a great bit of kit.
Great video Andy,I'm looking to switch over to battery for my hedge trimmers soon so this was very helpful 👍🏼
😀 That is great to hear - Thank you for watching 👍
Been testing a few stihl products this week myself and they are delivering and the batteries are up to the task. Great video.

Great video mate look forward to others 👍🏼🧡🍃
😀 Cheers chap 👍🏻
Great cutting advice 👌

😀 Cheers chap - mans a lot coming from a hedge pro 👍🏻
Great machines I have 2 now my go too hedge cutter using the newer 300S battery
I have the extendable version I can’t remember when I last used ladders it’s excellent and it lasts 3 hours on the 300 battery
😀 They really are fantastic bits of kit 👍🏻
great video . can you please tell me the name of that hedge plant?
Whoa colour saturation level 10
Thank you for watching

The Fully Charged Gardener Fingers and toes crossed. Also that it gives us the option to put a battery in the machine rather than stuck with a cord 🙈

😀 I find that plenty of lube keeps that collar from sticking.
I may just get myself a selection of different size batteries to try 😀

Hi are you going to show us how you sharpen your hedge trimmers. And thanks again for your advice and videos
I have had a couple of requests for sharpening videos, so I will definitely be making one. 😀 Thank you for watching
Great video. How about one on blade maintenance?
Yes agree, would love to see some of your tool maintenance routine Andy
😀 Cheers chap - I can definitely make a video on blade maintenance 👍🏻

Its the second best battery pole hedger bro! Why don't you use the D handle?
Hi mate, love your videos, what helmet is that you are using with the bluetooth feature?
😀 Thank you very much. The helmet is the Stihl Advance x - vent BT helmet
@@TheFullyChargedGardener thanks mate appreciate the response
😀 No worries
Can you use it under heavy rain/wet conditions?
It is in Stihls PRO lineup - So you can use it in the rain 👍
How do you sharpen it?
Usually with a flat file
Cool beans
Fala mais q trabalha
If you trim hedges professionally don't buy one of these by the HLA 66 instead you'll be much happier
