- Oud & Lute - King of Instruments -
The origin of the oud belongs to the ancient times and similar instruments were used by the Babylonian and ancient Egyptian. Until today, oud is played as the "king of instruments" in Arabic culture.
The oud found his way to Europe in medieval times and it became "lute". During the Renaissance the lute was also regarded as the "king of instruments".

Musical encounter between the Orient and the Occident. I played the both instruments in the meantone tuning with pure 3rd and 6th. It's not so easy to play oud in meantone, but the effect is the sound passes through the air.
Please enjoy the very soothing sound and music!
I've been playing my 6 string Status Graphite bass along to this. Really helps with improvising using scales and modes I'm not used to.
This is the purest music I was hoping for. It is like a fine rain that touches the heart, and the mind. thank you so much.
Thank you four your wonderful words! I will keep working on creating music for our soul.

So beautiful! So relaxing! Thank you! What is the name of the Oud with the extra strings, please?
Thanks! As I wrote in the video description, it's a baroque lute.
@@NaoSogabe Oh! I see! Thank you for the clarification! I just didn't know which one it was. I love the deeper bass tone due to that bass string! I've looked it up and discovered that it's also called a 13 course Baroque Lute meaning the strings are doubled and the bass strings are tuned an octave apart. A shame they're so expensive! $7 - $8,000 is a bit beyond my reach. :-( I'd love to get one! I used to play Classical and Flamenco Guitar and have just started to get back into it again. Should never have let life interfere! Ah well! Is there a cheaper version that I could start learning on that has a nice bass? What would you recommend? I'm exploring the world of meditational relaxing music which helped me with my PTSD. That's how I came across your beautiful music. Of course, I realise that you have been playing for years, a professional and it shows. Maybe, if I become a good enough player, I would love to share it with others and help them also even if it's not as such a high standard as yours. Just to give back like yourself and other musicians who have helped me sleep at night and get through each day and to share it with others in need. Sorry for the long message. Hope my ramblings haven't irritated you. Just wanted to show my appreciation of your artistry and what it has done for me (even though I've only just discovered your work) and what I'm sure it has done for others.
Where did you get the European oud?
It is actually a baroque lute. I describe this way because lute and oud are the same thing from the point of view of music history. Please watch my video about this topic: th-cam.com/video/s3vk6FxGHMc/w-d-xo.html
Baroque lutes usually have to be ordered directly from a master lute maker...
