I watched X Factor auditions with Stephen Tries and we saw how awful they were. Who told these people they could sing? Let me know if there are any more out of touch shows or just old programmes in general you'd like me to watch next (and any guests you want on). Enjoy!

That Robert guys deffo has special needs, I don't blame these guys for laughing and not realising,maybe it's coz I work with disabl3d ppl, but idk tbh I'd think it was pretty obvious from his speech that he has special needs.

I told my mum I wanted to go on X Factor & be a singer when I was like, 15. She had to let me know gently that I wasn’t good enough. I’m so glad she did so I didn’t embarrass myself 😭😭
Thing is, 2000's TV was built on poking fun at people, hopeless untalented people got thrown under the bus in the name of entertainment. a lot of them probably had undiagnosed mental issues. But the producers and production team knew that and took advantage of it. I've seen ex contestants talk about how they would be provoked into funny reactions off camera (locked in rooms without AC or water, told to change their entire act before going out) etc. It's an entertainment show, not a talent show. Super cruel when you start looking into it.
Talent shows like this are evil. Remember the Pink lookalike, Zoe Alexander? They treated her awfully and set her up. She is very down to earth and seems smart when you watch her TH-cam channel. The show was awful.
It isn't evil to tell someone who is shit they are shit.
What's evil is family and friends pandering to them, and telling them they are special when they aren't.
@@esmeecampbell7396that's not What happened dude , the X factor team edited footage to make her look and sound terrible the show is a complete lie , Zoe can very much sing she's not the most amazing singer in the world but she can sing , people who idolise the show are pretty dumb tbh the whole thing is set up to make the judges look good and the contestants bad , even the good ones also the prize for winning doesn't actually even exist there is no money.

@@RevPGS Of course they edit the show, but you really can't edit something like that to make the mental bitch look good. She was not a good singer, not the worst in the world but definitely still bad.
I know they rig it so the best singer always comes second (because they don't need the Christmas record deal they'll stand the test of time on their own merit whereas if you also own the person getting the publicity for the Christmas number 1 then you can double dip the takings) but there's no incentive for them to just bin off someone who stands a chance of winning in the audition just to "make Simon Cowell look good" look at Susan Boyle for example, would have been possible to autotune her to make her sound bad, could have ripped into her and kicked her out at the first hurdle, however they didn't, because they still have to follow UK broadcasting and competition laws.
But you're saying she was totally sane and just killed herself because of being edited out of context, which by definition would mean you aren't sane.
There is a prize for winning, UK competition law is very strict you couldn't advertise a prize and then just not award one, they'd have a lawsuit immediately and no amount of lawyers can save you from just breaking the exact letter of the law without even trying to pretend.

For those curious about Zoe Alexander, production twisted everything from her original audition to airing the episode by telling her what to sing, how to act and what to say. They edited the footage to make her look worse and while her actions should not be condoned, the continued manipulation and stress caused by production caused her emotional breakdown. I would highly recommend watching a video about what happened to her as this happens to a LOT of X Factor contestants, I never recommend applying.

None of which were Pink, the TV regulators must have found it true years later as it ay airing. Simon Cowell probably Bullshitted them until now

I completely forgot about the angry mother in law until now. I wish they showed more of her. She really laid into Simon, then she said “I don’t know why women throw themselves at him. He’s not even good looking. He doesn’t even have his own teeth!” 😂
If I recall correctly, her name was Edna. They brought her back for the final to introduce the “best of the worst” acts, and the crowd were chanting “Edna! Edna!” They loved her.
I don't mean to be a downer but Ariel did have mental issues that were unresolved. She ended up taking her own life years later and apparently family said she never got over her portrayal on x factor
To be fair if she had genuine mental issues she'd have killed herself over someone at the bus stop not being her friend or twist to an East Enders not being what she wanted or some shit...

Glad the comments agree that the hosts were horrible as well. Half the time they judged on appearance instead of musical talent, set people up, and even drove the girl in the thumbnail too suicide.
In all fairness, I do think she had a persistant drug problem but I can't imagine national embarrassment helped much

She was actually very good in her profession. She worked with a fair few rock singers. She did struggle with mental health (have never seen anything suggesting she did drugs but if she did... so what?) She cut her throat in her bed apparently

She said the whole point of what she was doing was too show off her vocal range, and she did a good job with that, but they were too concerned about the “scary emo” factor. She brought good energy too the stage and seemed like a good, chill, person. Rip Ariel❤️

The producers of the show who have put them through several rounds of unreleased auditions to get to this point?
I remember doing it as a dare when I was 14. They made thousands of us queue up at Old Trafford for around 8 hours in the freezing cold, cheering for empty cars that were supposed to have judges in them, when you're finally seen it's by a telly producer (of which there are around 30), and you're separated from the audition next to you by a bit of cloth so it's an absolute din of terrible crooning. They listen to about fifteen seconds of you and decide if you'd be entertaining to watch on telly, you'll then make it through to another date where they do the same thing again twice more before the "first audition".
These people have been told by the producers of the show three separate times they're good enough for the show.
ariel is actually dead now. she allegedly took her life after the bullying she received after the x factor + because of her poor mental health. :(

Holly was literally working as a holiday camp singer and entertainer that’s why she asked “why do I keep getting employed if I’m as bad as you’re saying” which wasn't included in the clip shown in the video
a few of these people have actual singing skill, but this show is about mainstream pop and obviously making fun of anything that doesn't sound like it
The best part is when simons telling them all to leave cause they can’t stop laughing when you’d fully just expect that from him

Used to watch this and BGT during school during its early times. Stopped watching it when majority of the contestants who had a sob story to gain attraction and basically winning on sympathy! What made this more annoying most of them either don’t do music anymore or basically one hit wonders! Sobers ruined this show 😂

I've seen older clips where it's pretty clear the constentants genuinely have special needs, but it's edited to look like they're just quirky or 0dd or cr@zy but they literally have special needs ..then alot of the clips are edited drastically using special effects to make it look like ppl doing thing they aren't.. ppl have broken down the zoe Alexander clip n they editing in her dad walking on stage with her, edited her face to look more angry , even edited her throwing a mic , let alone the manipulation, it's not these ppls family's telling them they're amazing, it's the producers, n ofc alot of these ppl have mental health issues..bocz of that n the show many have ,what we say un-aliv3d themselves
