I am totally moved by this song when I hear it, the organ music the bass and the voice of Gary Broker can't be topped. No one can sing it as beautiful and with so much felling from the heart. My eyes well up listening to the song and the promo#2 vedios of the band walking about London running through the fields slow motion , Gary singing two band member pointing in fun at him and he slips and smiles him sitting back on the ground the band brhind him ect. I get emotion because not only is the video wonderful to watch, but it brings back fond memories when I was 12 years old and my life back thenwhen life was sweet simple and there was so much love around, people more respected each other.
YES i love this song , i was 7 yrs old then in 67 ... yes we had to show respect to our mums and dads .... THE police where very well respected , you did as you was told .... have a good day
She said,Im home on shore leave, Though in truth we were at sea So I took her by the looking glass And forced her to agree Saying, you must be the mermaid Who took neptune for a ride. But she smiled at me so sadly That my anger straightway died If music be the food of love Then laughter is its queen And likewise if behind is in front Then dirt in truth is clean My mouth by then like cardboard Seemed to slip straight through my head So we crash-dived straightway quickly And attacked the ocean bed
I don't know what to say! this song is like a rare dimond! my question is that why can't we hear songs like that in todays world? is this a sign of both the gender relations change or music?
i agree , i have the sheet music for this and there is another / 3rd verse , that i,ve never heard on any version and i have the remastered cd so , its a ghost verse i guess
This is total crap! First of all, you don't ever mess with an utterly classic song. Granted, the audio is only as good as the download, but when you remix, edit, etc., you completely take away the subtle nuances that make this song an absolute masterpiece!

She said,Im home on shore leave,
Though in truth we were at sea

If music be the food of love

And likewise if behind is in front

My mouth by then like cardboard

And attacked the ocean bed
Cette chanson m'obsède depuis 1967!

Don't mess with musical perfection. It doesn't need a video to be perfect.
It's like screwing around with a Roy Orbison song, you just don't do it
Boas musicas que nao voltam.mais. linda.
love it too much
The song that brought John Lennon to tears
He had heard the Miller's tale many a time in his brief but shining life.
Isto sim, é musica...
hermosísima música nunca pasa el tiempo de estos temas que hicieron historia en la música
In stereo too!
i agree , i have the sheet music for this and there is another / 3rd verse , that i,ve never heard on any version and i have the remastered cd so , its a ghost verse i guess
Linda de viver essa música
Last 2 verses of the tune..
better than the original version!
This version has nothing extra other than the video.
É uma pena quem.canta morreu de cancer. Brasil
When you said "long version" I was expecting the extra verses, you should clarify.
Wow... Is someone on an acid trip?
Arrgh it's completely out of sync!
This sounds remastered and VERY much like crap! Edited even worse. Blah!!
