Oil Leak Oversight, How Did The Dealership Miss That?

  • Hey Good People.
I had a very nice Chevrolet Suburban in the shop this past week. There wasn't too much wrong with it. The customer stated that the dealership said she needed some suspension work done, but she needed a second opinion. During my usual courtesy inspection I found something that the dealership shouldn't have missed.

I like your content and your approach. You remind me of my dad's Auto repair business
. His shop was not fancy. But he had a reputation of being honest, fair, and being a good mechanic who would fix the cars correctly. On another note, I love the interaction between you and your wife. You all seem to have a relationship based on love and mutual respect. I work at a dealership now. But I still try to give the same effort that I gave when I worked with my dad and for myself. I can also attest that at dealerships the job is no better or worse than the individual mechanic working on it or supervising it
. Finally, I like that you don't use profanity in your videos. Most mechanics have a reputation of using salty language regularly in real life and in their videos without regard for who may be listening. Be blessed my brother

@@AlexTheCarDoctor When my dad ran his shop, and when I ran it for a few years after his retirement, we had one elderly customer in particular who’d come by almost daily just to sit and kill time. He said one reason he liked coming by even when nothing was wrong with his vehicles was because daddy and I “didn’t do all that cussing and nasty talk😂”. I wasn’t cut out to actually run a business. But I still enjoyed working on cars. So that’s why I took a job at a dealership. I love the challenge of being able to find and fix problems that other shops and dealerships couldn’t fix. Seeing a happy customer and a properly working vehicle give me a sense of accomplishment.

@@AlexTheCarDoctor I’m not trying to be a troll. I’m just showing that trying to put dirt on other shops is not the way unless they are seriously proven scammers and you have evidence. People can pick you apart just as easily if they are not just a DIY’er. I did say it is hard to keep up with your diags and why. I’ll give you I misunderstood the bumpy parking lot but that made me realize. You would need a strong left turn to get the noise on the driver side stab link, unless you’re bouncing. Stab links stop the car from rolling. You would need the left turn or the bumpy road. You started to mention it’s just the start and there are usually bigger problems. It is very odd to see one stab link snapped with no other major damage. Lastly, I
Noticed you said this came back in for the trans. You said in the comment you know these GM’s have issues. You can clearly see the oil residue is above the cooler gasket. The cooler lines start at the exact point of your leak and are covered in oil worse upwards where it start which is right where the leak is. The metal line after the plastic section is wayyyyy cleaner. The biggest leak on the GM’s is the rear main seal. It is right there to leak on the filter and the lines plus its back for trans work. Again I’m coming off rude but that’s the vibe you give off straight up giving out shop names and it can be done just as easily to you. Stating the vehicle needs an alignment is one of the most important aspects for the DIY’er to understand. From now on I’m just in the comments for tips and compliments unless you go rogue and started going back alley which I doubt.
