My favorite time of the day has become my early mornings on my bk porch. I do have my tablet because that's when I do my devotionals, read my Bible, listen to your lessons. This was a great one btw! I don't answer emails or texts. After I'm done, I close my tablet & just sit here with my coffee, listening to the birds or the wind, and sometimes I chat with God...sometimes I just BREATHE. Not sure if this is real solitude, but it feels like it to me ❤
How I long for solitude, and I agree with John-it is not because I am so spiritual, it is because I am an introvert. My sins of omission include withdrawing from people. But, when I have allowed myself the wonderful gift of solitude, it is like bread for my soul. And yes, God wants to show me both His great love for me and some things to work on, lol. ❤
This is such a difficult practice for me. My mind is so active all the time. To slow it down and be in solitude is one of the greatest struggles for me. I try to rest my thoughts and then I am often like Doug the dog from the animated movie Up -“Squirrel!” and then I’m off onto another thought. I need this discipline so desperately in my life. Thanks John for leading us through this today.
Good morning brother John and Tim! This was very deep today! I couldn't agree more with this. It can be hard to find solitude in my life as I am raising 6 children under the age of 17. I know God is faithful and makes a way when I feel there is no way! God's grace and peace to you and your families😊🫂💖
It is interesting to me (a God Wink) just yesterday I was thinking I should stop trying to stop the thoughts I felt were “wrong” and just process through them with God. That’s what I heard today (among other things) If a thought keeps returning instead of judging or burying it I will ask Jesus, what do you see, what do you know, what would you like me to hear. Thank you for this series. I truly love your message.
I got excited when I saw the word “solitude” and could t wait to hear John’s message. I am an introvert and require an obscene amount of alone time that I’m not able to get. So once a year I run away for a few days (which I’m doing next week). I consider this my Jesus time, and what I love is that it’s uninterrupted, it’s me, Jesus, and my random thoughts. It fills me up. In addition, I try to escape for the day once a month. But it’s these daily videos during my morning alone time that I cherish. I try to talk to God throughout the day but I fall short. All to say that solitude, for me, is instrumental in connecting with God and grounding myself. So so grateful for this series. ❤
I spend a great deal of time alone due to my living situation. I tend to fill a great deal of my time with music, audiobooks, and podcasts. It is very uncomfortable for me to turn my background noise off and get into a time of solitude. At first, I could only do a few minutes without the distractions of noise. Over time I now look forward to getting together with God and listening to what he has to say to me. It took some practice but was well worth the effort. Thank you for these great videos!
I miss Dallas so much, but thank the Lord I've found you. Have several of your books. I've suffered a recent stroke, and your videos give me peace of mind. GodBless.
The whole set is great...the homestead visual, the gold and black, Joh’s home, the quotes in the boxes on the side, and the small step suggestions. I felt compelled to start today to break from the world’s press especially with all the deep sadness of of the ruined soul exposed. Thank you all!
I had to stop it at 5:42 to shout Hallelujah! Praise God for this teaching! He is so faithful! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED TO HEAR! Thank you, Holy Spirit for the blessing of John, his servant's heart and obedience. John, I TOTALLY relate to how you think and what you ponder. Thank you for doing this!
Great message today. We have instituted a Soul Care day at our Christian organization and provided some resources as to what that might look like. No media, bring your bible, fast, pray, walk, hike, and reflect on those areas of your life that you desire to better align with Jesus. A retreat, or sorts.
I loved the beginning of this episode where you are just talking to Tim about the recording - before it actually started. To see you truly at home!

John and Tim thank you so much for putting together these videos. They are a great help and blessing to my wife and I (in Canada !).
