I was really pushing my tears down for a few reasons, to not show such vulnerability, so I could better concentrate on the music, as well as, I didn't think people would want to see me cry. From the comments on One with the Shadows I realize now this is not the case. I did let go after the reaction was done (if you couldn't tell by my face at the end of final thoughts lol, I do also smile when I'm trying to hold back tears). Anyways, I wanted to explain why I was holding back but I will not do so in the future. Thank you all for the nice comments. I am a Gen-X:r as well. I am a man and I cried like a baby hearing the whole album in just about every song. I don't know if it was the anticipation or how it sounded in some particular point or the lyrics. I couldn't sleep the thursday/friday release night because I just had to listen to Wintersun Time II package the whole night.

I always get major major goosebumps during the Finnish part. It's an amazing touch in a beautiful song. I don't know if I would love it more if I wasn't a Finn myself or knew any Finnish so that it would sound like a mysterious alien language. How did you feel about it? I really love the Finnish part even though no clue what he is singing (I am trying to learn but have a long ways to go). Partly because I know it is his native language and you can hear so much passion/emotion in it, I also think Finnish is a beautiful spoken language. That sounds like a fun challenge to attempt to sing it 😁

Wintersun is the only band that can make me listen to a 10+ minute song and come out of it thinking "that was too short". What a masterpiece of a song on a masterpiece of an album. What a lovely genuine reaction. I see too many reactors(lol) these days that look at their phone every once in a while or talk so much even themselves cant hear the music. This is the way to react to music. Just listen and imagine stuff. I've been inside the finnish metal scene for 25 years. In the early years in bands, later just a listener/festival goer, but I've never seen Wintersun live. Hope that'll change one day. Greetings from a finnish millenial.❤🔥

For the bands I recommended on the last video, Amorphis and Insomnium, plenty of songs to check out by both. Amorphis draws from the national epic of Finland, Kalevala, bringing the stories to people around the world. Just one vocalist, Tomi Joutsen, who has just the deepest growls and really amazing clean vocals, in my opinion. Already mentioned 'Death of a King' by them, and I would recommend starting the journey with Amorphis with that one, to see the whole band in action. More songs: 'The Bee', 'Brother and Sister'. And Insomnium has many a song to bring out the tears. They are masters of Melodic Death Metal. Songs to check out are many. 'Heart Like a Grave', 'The Lay of Autumn', 'One For Sorrow', 'While We Sleep', 'The River', 'Pale Morning Star', 'Godforsaken (feat. Johanna Kurkela)', Song Of The Dusk', The Argent Moon EP... Just off the top of my head...
Are you familiar with Tales of a thousand lakes and Elegy? When I first started listening to them I was restricted to the newer stuff a lot (which are incredible and I love)... I don't know if that's your situation, but those 2 albums I mentioned are just amazing too
