- This is a video that Sherry VanDam and Brandon Owczarzak surprised me with this past weekend at my career celebration party. To me, it is so meaningful that I wanted to share it with you. 33 years of tournament competition, life, family, friendship, and a whole lot more all rolled into it.
This is the last tournament highlight video we’re putting out. Didn’t plan on it, but to me it is very important to show everyone and everything that made me who I am. Honored and humbled by all of it. Team VanDam all coming together!

Favorite part is seeing the respect from your peers and competitors not only on the water but also off the water as a person, a friend, and family man.

What really is the best part of this is everyone talking about your humility, your work ethic, your love for your family and conservation. The man behind all the winning is what makes you the champion you are. Few competitors are able to truly compete at the highest level for their entire career from start to finish and Kevin you sir did that while being the best man you could off the water. My favorite part was learning how humble Kevin Vandam is! How he values family and a powerful work ethic! It was also interesting to learn about how he touched so many lifes.
Kevin has been the only angler that I followed and took word for knowing he's from my home state. Just to watc jcb all these tournaments have put me in the world of tournaments where every time I need a few pointers I've got someone who's got it down.
Kevin thanks for being such a huge influence in me loving to fish, wishing you all the best to you and your family
KVD is an awesome roll model for so many young people getting into the sport of bass fishing. In a day and age where good role models are hard to find, KVD does it the right way.
Kevin, I’ve been a fan and follower of yours for years. I really enjoyed listening to everyone talking about you and all you’ve done in the sport, but being a father myself, my favorite part was listening to your boys talking about you. Congratulations to all you’ve accomplished. Hope you have a wonderful retirement.
KVD is t really is the full package. I started following him when I was 13. My little brother and I idolized him. I wanted to be Kevin. 17 years later and he’s still my favorite angler. My upmost respect for Kevin.
Favorite part was hearing how much respect everyone has for you and how much you have accomplished in your career.

My favorite part was Bill Dance, the king of instructional fishing, saying that he learned stuff from you. That says so much to your abilities please keep sharing your knowledge. Thanks for the 33 years you have shared with us.
Favorite part is seeing the "not tournament mode" KVD. We all see the professionalism and drive... but rarely get to see the fun, giddy inner child like he let's out when just hanging with Zona and his family. Brings the human aspect to the forefront.

To say that , Kevin Van Dam is the "Michael Jordan of Bass Fishing " may begin to explain to someone who doesn't follow Fishing to begin to understand exactly what he has meant to this sport. He is a super nice guy, just as advertised. The purity of his character is one example of his genuine greatness. His drive to be the best, his work ethics and will is a big part of what makes him great. His input of bait and boat designs has transformed the sport of Bass Fishing. Hey Kevin, I have been watching your talent spark threw out my whole life. U have gave me at a look at what I want to be. What I enjoyed most from this video is how your hard work payed off for you. How your drive and friendliness that has been shown by you shines on tons of young anglers to this day. Leading the bass fishing community takes a lot of time and effort and you did it perfectly. He’s the original game changer. In an industry that is ever changing, he has continued to adapt and improve the tactics, techniques and tackle that led him to success early on to bring success to him (and so many others) throughout his career.
Like hearing all the people talk about different things about KVD, but the best was Davy Hite talking about how much of a family man Kevin is. He is the G.O.A.T.

Growing up watching someone from the"north" doing as well as you did. Been watching from Northern Indiana your whole career, even met you at BPS in Portage, IN. Just a great person. Going to miss watching you at Tourneys.

I remember seeing one of his live seminars in Grand Rapids, Michigan in the early 90s. I saw his determination and love for the sport then and he doesn’t seem to have wavered from that at all over his career!
