Go get Em!!
In this epode I design and build a BBQ from 1/4" flat steel! All my vectors were designed in Adobe Illustrator and some on the iPad with the pen
I cut all my steel on a Torchmate 4400 using a Lincon Electric Flex Cut 80

Your explanation of the decision making process of an artist was gold. Thank you.
14:00 - We see all the workshop skills Jimmy has but we often forget about the eleventy-trillion computer skills Jimmy has and brings to his work. So KUDOS to the Digital Diresta!
I have said it before, you are a true artist who has learn to work in many different mediums to bring to life what you see in your mind’s eye. Thank you for sharing another great creation.
Love the design Jimmy! You are so right about symmetry, the artist knows the details and the thought method but the viewer just appreciates the creation.
10:44 As a welder I obviously disagree lol. Please show more welding!
Now that is what you call a fire pit, non of this cheap Chinese metal rubbish!! Great job as ever mr D.
First time I used a plasma cutter it was like magic.
You know what they say Jimmy, try try again until it doesn't look too screwy! Good job sir it's a very nice design.
Very nice work Jimmy... You should have included the very small initials J.D. into the boot in an inconspicuous place.. again, very nice work...
Always great to see how your creative problem solving process works.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 !!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ingmar Bergman in Iron Maiden font on the shirt is next level.
Я даже не обратил внимания , пока не прочитал ваш комментарий 😅
Beautiful. Love it!
Nice job Jimmy. I'm a profesionnal welder and I can say that you rock!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
Easy for me to suggest after the work is done but was five boots evenly spaced on ten facets an option?
Exact same thing came to my mind. But, there is more math than art in my soul
Very nice job! I just didn't understand if this beautiful barbecue was for you or if it was an order from a customer. I'm sorry, I'm not very strong in English. How much does this beautiful steel cutting machine cost? Good luck and good appetite!!
Glad I got to see it during the creation phase. Missed the hotdogs 😂😂😂
Jimmy, have you ever thought about building a metal "rocket" stove? That might be a interesting project.
Get bigger hot dogs!
Thanks Jimmy, very cool design. I liked your other BBQ and fire pit builds, too. Watching this video pulling together the bits you showed on Patreon was so cool. Looking forward to the next project for sure.
Bloody brilliant 😀
The start to finish, thought process is really fun to watch. Thank you!
Respect from Egypt jimmy 👏
yup
Sick pit! Is that David Waelder’s rebar meat fork? That video is etched into my brain haha
Nice advice on making decisions. 15:11
I know at first it wasn't your intention, but now it looks kind of like a skull manhole cover, haha. Did you consider screening the side flame openings to reduce embers escaping. One of your better designs. Great video Jimmy. Cheers.
beautyfull work jimmy ! i think the ideal material for a BBQ pit must be ceramic, will last longer, the con is fragility or britleness. i really preciate what you do and how do you express everything ! congrats !
Great advice on making decisions. You are spot on. 99% of people will never see what we see. Keep up the great work and inspiring all of us.
Another great D I R E S T A project! Left me with one question though. What kind of dogs? My guess is either Nathans, Sabretts or Sahlens
Excellent work! Still waiting on that 2M sub review video like youbused to do in NYC ..
Comparing the plasma cutting here to Snowball Engineering's plasma cutting, I don't think I'm seeing Jimmy using any lead-in cuts. It looks like he's making the initial pierce right on the cut line. Am I seeing that wrong?
I have a handheld induction heater and works great. But a question? Is there different size diameter coils for the stationary one you have? That's cool as hell jimmy!
Awesome job Jimmy. Your bbqs are always so inventive
Maybe next time consider cutting all the sides with same cutout but weld the cutout back onto every other one raised up slightly from surface. Still get light from the panel but breaks up the busyness that you mentioned you wanted to avoid
A giant gob of ketchup at the end would have been a massive comment generator. JS...
Whaoa!!! That's kinda like really badass!!! Nice work kiddo!!
Looking good jimmy hard works paying off. Thanks for awesome content. Love u guys on podcast too
I like it better without the boots.. It's great.
You're going to make me build a CNC plasma table, aren't you.. lol
Coulda been fun to weld a hinge onto the bootbody attachment, so it'd fit better in a flat pack shipping box.
As someone who works in the corrugated industry, thanks for calling it by the right name lol
Can I come just watch you build for a day? I promise I'm not a creep lol.
How did you align the side panels to each other? I'm guessing some of it is the geometry of the pieces, but it seems like it would be easy to get it wrong if you're not careful.
The 'anvil' method was always the way the coopers of old made their barrel staves, no metal benders in those days man! :)
Dostum Jimmy bu kadar yetenek çok fazla😀
Stonking build! Why not 3 feet so it's always stable?
Their brands were still on fire
And their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny
And their hot breath he could feel
Weld the off-cuts from cutting the flames on the blank sections.
Yea. I’m on board with the idea you know how to make stuff.
Phantom rider, what is this? Oh wait, it is from Jimmy D, let’s watch 👍
totally unrelated Question but how to you heat your buns without spliting them?
I don;t understand why 5 boots would have been a problem?
How you privent it from rust without being poisoning ??
Muy buen trabajo, pero las manijas no estan de acuerdo a tu calidad habitual.
Hey is that Kalamazoo saw sitting outside for sale
semejante laburo para unos panchos. una buena tapa de asado con leña de verdad se merece!!!
That project was hot, Jimmy.
Jimmy you never disappoint.
Even if he makes a mistake he's still awesome.
Hello Jimmy good job beautifully made well done
Great job! Why not 5 legs?
Love that adjustable height solution
Keep trying thanks for sharing
Heard about the tornado in upper state. Hope all are safe.
75 % is what you meant To SAY
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻awesome
В таком мангале угли должны быть только в форме черепов
that's a grill, not a barbeque
What I love most about the Maker community is that so many people think and create in so many different ways. “No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking” -- Voltaire
wow that is awesome, I enjoyed the video
Too many electronics for me.
!! SAVE A HOT DOG FOR ME !!
Awesome build Jimmy! Thanks for the behind the scenes on Patreon. Very cool to see these projects coming together in real time!
Jimmy, I love your stuff, your concepts and execution are awesome, but man you gotta do this stuff in Fusion! I know you're quick at illustrator, but you'd be just as fast sketching in fusion, and then you can assemble everything in 3d right there....and see how it all relates....👍🏻🍻
Incredible t-shirt
HELLO DEAR JIMMY. I THOUGHT OF YOU TODAY. HOPE YOU ARE WELL. MONICA F JURECKI
@@Monica-w2o thank you! I am grateful
Nice work.... as usual.
badass as per usual...
Great BBQ Jimmy! 🤩
Thanks for sharing.
God, I love hot dogs.
Smooth and nice😮
The flange will keep the top from warping. NICE JOB, Thanks for sharing.
I always enjoy a Diresta BBQ build. I'll take the slightly burnt dog on the left, please.
Thisbtone looks really cool! With the rim on, the top looks kinda like a manhole cover laying on the table there. I like the simple method for making the height of the grill adjustable. Doesn't need to be fancy, just needs to work and be easy to use. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Jimmy. Neat design. I love the boots for feet! There is so much that goes into a finished product that you can't see in the end. I'm glad you explain your thought process as you are working through that. The Torchmate is such an incredible tool. Having all that detail and making it by hand, would be very difficult.
I love this so much
Excellent BBQ. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with us. !!!
Your talk about whether or not the end user is going to notice certain decisions really spoke to me. I have a really bad habit of over thinking very small things that in the end, no one but me would know about it. But I know about it, so that’s the problem 🤣. I’ve had to remind myself that in the end, I’m the only one who cares. Great work Jimmy.
Cool!! I like the talk about "no one will know all the thoughts and deign ideas that go through your head" very true! definitely something that challenges me and I'm sure lots more people!! Thank you Jimmy!
The man behind the method and the materials. I've watched you freehand a Maloof style rocker on a bandsaw and now manipulating a semifluid (heat) material into a vision. Nicely done sir! The process is something I really appreciate.
Glorious Game of Thrones like ambience to light show & the cooking. Will be a super focus point for the dark, short, cold days of winter. Thank you for sharing!
why not 5 shoes..
Fantastic 👌
Well that ought to do it.
Classic Diresta
Brilliant!
5 boots??
👍👍👍👍👍
I really like that Jimmy. I like how you cut small pieces from a big sheet to piece together so there’s less material waste. Bravo 👏🏻 😊
Que bonito diseño 😊, habrá que comprar unos buenos chuletones de buey para probarla no? 😂
