I really hope that one day, you can acquire or rent a huge studio space where you can fully display all of your spacesuits. would be wonderful to see a deep dive video tour around the "Adam Savage Spacesuit Museum"
@@cabellism on the positive, at least he's sharing so much of it with us. I can only imagine what other collections are put there that we'll never get to see. Or skills that we'll never get to learn because they are never shared.
I really dig the "slick" scifi spacesuits as of late. There's a lot of realistic touches to this that further makes the show even that much more immersive.
As someone who wears a harness for work, and puts other people in them as well, you would not believe how much I wanted to reach through the screen and fix it for him.

I was with the Spectral Motion Robot build team on Lost is Space. Went to Vancouver a few times during season 1. I got to see some of those in person on set. Very nicely constructed and full of obvious innovations. So many great details. FBFX has the art Space suits down.
Given how much use those suits got - some shows the actors were in them for entire episodes - I'm glad they made such an effort to make them comfortable with the cooling systems etc.
lost in space is literally one of my favorite shows that I have EVER SEEN and seeing you show this suit in all kinds of different perspectives and angles just makes me lose it, thank you.
Love the suit. My wife was the co-producer of the 1998 Lost in Space movie. I/we would love to see more suits. I have to say watching you try to don and then wear the harness killed me. 🤣 As a 32 year fire rescue fire captain with Oakland Fire, I always told my "rescuers" to get dressed with a partner. That might of helped. Love your content.
I love the design of these LiS suits. So happy that Adam was able to add one to his collection. Also glad he shared the item with all of us through this video.
I'd really like more lost in space content. Would love to see Adam do more on this. if they could do a fourth season maybe Adam could Cameo like in Expanse
I winched each time he threw around the suits. Even when he pushed (a bit) the alien helmet on the work table surface. These are nice toys for him, while it's precious artifacts to me.
I remember watching the reruns of the original Lost in Space and "Danger Wil Robinson" was always a thing. I also enjoyed movie (I know a lot of folks say it wasn't great but it entertained me and that a win in my books), but when I heard about the current TV show I was looking forward to it and I loved it. I am happy they were able to make that final 3rd season. I hope you are able to make some time to watch it!
Thank you Adam for showing us that after years of working in this strange domain you can still completely GEEK out over a new and brilliant acquisition. More power to you and thanks for a fun trip.
That harness is serious business! Interesting, the J number indicated which "Jupiter" ship the suit was from in the show but I don't remember a Jupiter 38. The Dhar family played a pretty big part in the show. I bet when you watch it you'll have a keen eye to see when **your** suit makes a screen appearance! I loved the show. It had my favorite ginger pirate, Toby Stephens, as a pretty awesome dad
I too will have to add Lost in Space to my watchlist … what a beautiful suit … us patrons of tested and Adam savage’s work need to get funds directed toward a curated museum of all this wonderful coolness … it must be shared in person for the sake of the skilled crafts persons whom created and imagined it!
Was that "to infinity and beyond" a foreshadowing of a spacesuit build to come?! If so that's awesome!! LIGHTYEAR is full of phenomenal spacesuits. Spacesuits are awesome, honestly! Who doesn't like spacesuits, even the bad or ugly ones in the old tacky sci fi's deserve love lol.
Dear Adam, those little plates on the boots are called Metatarsal Guards! You can find them built-in or as an attachment for work boots when steel/composite toes alone don't cut it. I assume that is FBFX's inspiration--to make the suit look more industrial/utilitarian.
Fantastic suit from a spectacular show. One of the best sci-fi series' out there, next to "The Expanse". I'm highly surprised Adam hasn't watched it yet.
My favorite Misfits song is "Lost in Space" off their "Famous Monsters" album. Odd choice, I know, but it's great. "Am I following all the right leads? Or am I about to get Lost in Spaaaaace!?"
Adam might enjoy looking at 'gas mask inserts.' They are glasses meant to fit under a visor. Some of the older military ones were low-profile and strapped around your head with an elastic band, newer equipment clips to the mask.
oh how I can only WISH I would of been able to have my daughter still fit into the one I made for her JUST to someday meet Adam with his at a comic con!! Absolutely LOVE this suit along with the one from " The Martian"....love it love it!!!
when i was a kid we called those type of boots moonboots. love the suit. at this point nasa just needs to send adam into space. i mean he's almost been there.
What a great video and suit up, and I LOVE the design. But, near the end all I wanted to do was yell and say "Fix the belt, it's folded over in the back." :)
Hey Adam, Just wanted to point some things out. my girlfriend actually made a large part of the components for this suit in particular for season 2. This suit is specifically the only suit that does have the rubber slips as it was used for filming a scene where their boots got stuck in mud and they had to remove the boot quickly. the other suits are just regular pant legs and zippers.
I thought the producers of the Lost in Space remake did a really great job with the costumes, props, and sets. It was nice to see production teams take a hard sci-fi approach to designing these attributes for a series known for being campy.
Hey Adam, I made a few of these Season 2 suits and their gloves! Though we weren't the original designers we replicated the suits and gloves for Season 2. I did not pattern but I personally stitched all the new gloves and screen printed the black fabric with silver dots (how are the silver dots holding up?) Thank you for your compliment on my glove! At that point in time I had only been sewing gloves for a couple years, and was trained to make gloves at a 100 year old glove company before being swooped up to work in the film industry :D
You need one from the original show, too. Contrast/compare kind of thing maybe? Nice and shiny Jupiter 2 suits vs new, dark :) And the two different kinds of robots! OH COOL. It's fun sharing your enthusiasm. THanks!
I managed to get the screen used Medical Kit but couldn’t afford one of the suits. Im so glad you were able to get one for your collection. Its beautiful and seems to fit very well! Congratulations and God Bless! P.S. The Med Kit is pretty freakin awesome too! 😁
The soft parts of this suit looks like a modified motorcycle touring suit. I would not have any problem taking off on my bike in something like that... especially with the fan!
I actually love that space suit very much, it reminded me of the Prometheus/ Alien:Covenant but with the orange colors of "The Martian" space suits.(Edit: which actually the makers of the suit did those too) Adam is living the coolest dream ever and is to have your own Space suit. Yet, my dream space suit are the ones used in Dead Space the classic and improvrd Engineering suit, the Advanced Suit, and the Arctic Survival suit. And obviously the Interstellar ones, a recreation of the 2001: A space odyssey red EVA suit, and of course the incredibly iconic N7 suit from Mass Effect.
