- Joachim Trier broke out with his first film, Reprise, in 2006. While Louder Than Bombs struggled to get funded, he made Oslo, August 31st, which made him a really hot indie director. His third collaboration with writer Eskil Vogt, Louder Than Bombs, became the first Norwegian film to play in competition in Cannes in decades. He talks with David Poland about the film and his career.
Shot in Los Angeles, March 2016

Trier is so handsome!
great insight. his smile also reminds me of fassbender haha
He mentions attending European Film College - I went there 2005-2006 but at that time nobody knew who he was or what he would become, "Reprise" was released the year I graduated. But later I became a huge fan of him and when I realized that he had attended European Film College, I got pretty excited - to imagine we had walked down the same student hall ways, walked the same narrow cobble streets of Ebeltoft, tinkered with the same film equipment, slept in the same student dorms, carved the names of our sweethearts in the same surrounding trees and so on...
I'm still a great admirer of him, but Louder Than Bombs is not as good as his first two.
Another distinguished, former European Film College student is Nikolaj Arcel of "The Royal Affair" and the upcoming "The Dark Tower"...
+UlrichUlrich I went to EFC too!.. 2014-2015. Small world! Alot of great filmmakers has walked those halls and slept in those student dorms. Just recently I chatted with a light-guy only to find that we had lived in the exact same room in the very same bed.. (obviously different years! xD )
Cool. I'll be viewing this film tonight.
Louder Than Bombs is my favourite Smiths-album
Does anyone know if he is working on something now?
next movie will be norwegian and will be called "thelma". its rumored that will be a supernatural movie about girl with superpowers or something like that.
