Asalaam Malikum sister. I am Caribbean Muslimah also. My parents are from St. Lucia and the United States Virgin Islands. I took my Shahada in 2007 in Ramadan. Your story is wonderful. alhamudallah
moni al-obany Yaaasss! Finally an island sister! My gyal. Walaikum Salam how are you? MashAllah you've been in the deen for quite some time now! Please tell me about your experience. How did you come to Islam?
Diaspora Ukhti I was married to an Arab Muslim we are divorced now. But I didn't converted until after my daughter was born. I was raised Pentecostal my mom was a pastor now deceased and my dad was raised Catholic but is non practicing. My ex husband had said to me that our children will have to be Muslim and since he work 24/7 I thought who would be a better teacher for my child. Before I converted I brought a Quran and other books about Sunni Islam and studied, my husband did not help me nor did he encouraged me to Islam. It was a friend of mine that encouraged me to go ahead and I decided for my daughter's sake to do it. I had covered for 4 years and then removed it. I still prayed and fasted but others were like so your not Muslim anymore and I'm like I am I just don't cover. But just recently about a month ago I recovered myself thanks to a cousin of mine and my fiancé. My Muslim community is small but we manage. I would say 5% is black 5% is Indian and the rest 90% are arabs
moni al-obany woooow Ukhti you have a story! I'm sure you have a lot of wisdom. Alhamdulillah you are preparing to re-marry again! How old is your daughter now? What made you take off the hijab initially? What marriage advice do you have? I actually just did I video on seeking a spouse/marriage that I'll be posting tonight. I'd like to know your thoughts.
Diaspora Ukhti my daughter is 9 turning 10. I took it off because I had an argument with someone about the difference of being an Arab and a Muslim one is a nationality and the other is a religion and that the person can't expect me to behave as a Arab woman would. The person threatened to hit me and I threaten to strangle them with my veil. But when I calm down I realize that wasn't the way to behave as a Muslim and I was tired as ignorant comments so I had took it off. As on marriage advice I have non sorry I met my ex husband because of my mom.
Hahahahaha I love your story! The part about strangling them with your veil. The true islander came out! Ya Allah that's a very interesting story. I'm sorry about having to deal with so much ignorance but I'm glad you found your way back to the hijab. I have constant rebuttals with family members mainly about our religion and the hijab. I just had a debate tonight! But we have to do our best to remember that it's all a test from Allah and it will make us stronger. Our veil is an easy form of dawah as well so MashAllah. Keep striving. We chose a tough road but one worth fighting for. I'm shocked your mom found someone! Mine is the complete opposite lol ya Allah.
I really enjoyed your story, we have a lot in common. I also discovered Islam in 2013, it's been 3 years that I wear the hijab and I did it when I traveled away from home. I also sent a mail to my father to explain my choice about my hijab. ^^ When I think of this year I become very emotional. Time goes by so fast subhanAllah and ramadan is coming again... Keep up the good work sister, I love you fillah ♥
Nana Mint what?! Hahahahaha that's insane! LoL we really are a lot alike. I thought I was the only one on the face of the earth who emailed their dad they were Muslim hahahaha! MashAllah we must be very similar. Times does go hey fast so. I read this Arab proverb yesterday. It goes: Time is like a sword, if you don't cut it, it will cut you. Meaning, use your time wisely before you look back and time has worn you out. I'm excited for Ramadan InshAllah we all reap the benefits. I'm in so much need of this. Thank you sister❤️ Speak to you soon inshAllah
Ma shaa Allah! That's interesting story, it's so nice that your parents respected your choice, alhamdulillah my family also accepted very well when I told them. 🌹🌹🌹
Amirah Siddique Thank you! Alhamdulillah. They respect it although once in a while they have their comment, but nothing I can't handle 💪🏽How did you tell your parents?!
@Diaspora Ukhti Salam Alaikam! I want to convert to Islam, I've been praying every single day alhamdullilah and my family are sikh but my dad is black but born in Yemen, and my mum is Indian.....I'm 14 btw and I don't know how on earth to tell my family as they don't really like muslims and I already feel like I am a muslim ygm and I have started to listen to Quran every single day aswell I just don't now how to tell them
@Nikki Kaur Hi there, sweetheart! I converted too a few years ago. There is this account called reverthelp on tumblr. They have been teaching, advising and helping me for a long time. Even with the relationship I have with my family. Do send them a message InshaAllah! They are very professional people and would love to assist you throughout your journey too. Much , much love!
Dear sister, Sikhism is quite close to Islam. Guru Nanak himself believed in one God, Allah. Even Guru Granth Saheb begins with 'Awwal Allah noor upaya..... That means the light of Allah was the first... In my view, don't make haste in declaring your Faith or taking Shahada. Islam does not mean a formal declaration of Iman. If you believe your creator is only one God, you are already a Muslim. Meanwhile keep studing Islam, it's fundamentals, the teachings of the Qur'an, the biography of the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) etc. and when you're mature enough and convinced, you may publicly declare your Iman. Trust in the Almighty God, and everything will be fine, In sha Allah.
Asalamoalakum how are you.Allah Paak give you strong Iman with lots of happiness Ameen.🌹🌷🌹Take care your self please.Remember me your Dua please.Allah hafiz 🌹🌷🌹🌷🌹🌷🌹🌷🌹

Hello sister 😘 im from morroco .
Can you prove it was the angel Gabriel who came to muhummad in the cave? Did he introduce himself?
Michael Wilcox I'm not trying to prove anything. But what you can do is ask the people of knowledge and do some more research of your own. Possibly attending the mosque and asking the imam some questions would be beneficial.
