Very interesting grave yard ,has a lot of history to it too.I should imagine some of the very old graves have been lost to time. The amount of building left of the Cathedral and the other pieces shows how amazing even with simple tools the workmanship was all those years ago for them to still be standing now..I wonder if a few of the local buildings are built using the stones from that too. That’s what happened throughout England in a lot of cases ,with both the Cathedrals and the old castles. The views too are beautiful from here too. It’s also nice to see a Church still there too and that the grave yard is nicely kept too..Thank you Sue for sharing your adventures with us I myself really appreciate it . Love n Light 🥰

All the castles in England were built with Irish oak.. even windsor when the fire happened in 1992 they wanted to keep the original features so ordered Irish oak..

Hi Sue. I was told that a person dies twice in this world. The first, obvious. The second? When they are no longer remembered. I feel that every time I say a name or even think it, I have brought them back to life, even for a minute. I love this church yard. I liked those brass plates that were very readable. You are doing a very good job. I finally know what you look like. Green fingernails and a shadow with a camera. Love the sound of wind. It was 95 degrees (F) here today. Humid. Summer is here.

Thank you Sue for this tour. We were in Ferns in 2019 and visited this graveyard as it is where my great grandparents are buried. My grandmother’s name is Mary Lacey and my grandfather, Patrick but name not added to the headstone. We knew this graveyard was very historical but had such a short time there that all I had time to visit was Dermout’s grave site. Since our return to Canada, I have done a lot of research to understand what I saw - you have filled in some blank spots for me - thank you!

Hi John from WI. Even with the wind you always do a swell job. I never seen a Grave Stone that said I was Executed and part of my remains are buried here. It is really something that history comes right out of the ground as in Father Murphy case. From the rebellion in 1798 to a famous song to what all happened to him after captured I imagine that remaining parts were thrown into a ditch. Unless the local people which knew him (Father Murphy) buried them somewhere else. I sometime wish that every Grave Stone had a small brief history on every person buried there. Can you imagine the libraries across the country with all those personal accounts.
