I was a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Air force back in the 80's, but I am now currently a Left Leg below the Knee Amputee due to Diabetes! :-( But after watching you Driving your 6-sp Mazda RX-8 as a Double Amputee, I believe can eventually drive my 5-sp Mustang GT/Cobra Project Car after I learn how to walk using my Prosthetic leg without a walker!...Thank You For Your Service!...and God Bless!
Dude you inspire me. I recently just became a raka and my only concern was if I can drive a manual. Everyone's telling me I won't be able to and frankly I don't like automatics in a gear head who loves cars and driving them and autos are boring. Is there any tips you can give me for the transitioning from the gas to the brake pedal? Also what if the leg I get doesn't have the locking mechanism? Thanks in advance. Semper Fi
+riffmaj7 He is using the Ottobock Genium knees but he was driving long before this video using the Ottobock 2nd generation C-Leg's. The knees have an additional mode that can be setup for driving so the foot doesn't collapse to the floor.
Hey, Randy.. Don't know if you remember me from our chat a couple months back, I am the bilateral above knee guy that we had a brief conversation together from me mentioning Cameron.. I am now a patient at Hanger since talking to you and have finally walked on prosthetics. I want to know more about this and how he can drive without feeling his artificial feet, as I hopefully will get another manual car in the future. I see this and think "he makes it look so easy, I can't even control my feet at!". I hope to hear from you soon. I can also sign a release at the clinic in my city to let you know what's going on and that you can talk to me. that's what I had to do in order to speak to Cameron over the phone.
Hey Cody, I have my own company now that specializes with bilateral above knee solutions. check out our page on FB facebook.com/bilateralprosthetics and our website at www.dreamteamprosthetics.com and our TH-cam channel th-cam.com/channels/O62ci4s5K-XjmbJeL6_OQA.html. we have a bilateral training camp starting in 12 days. you can email me on our FB page if you want.
How in the world? I only have a right leg below the knee amputee and I get a cramp just going through the motions of driving my 3 on the tree 52 chevy. Lol

What Knees are you using? As laka I gave up my jeep wrangler because I had no idea how I was going to drive a stick. This is amazing! Two thumbs up.

I am guessing the legs "lock" at an angle in driving mode so when he lifts off the brake to go for the clutch, they don't flop around.
That is correct. The angle can be adjusted using the remote control to fit the pedal arrangement of any vehicle.
